A welcome and introduction from the members of the Brisbane Harley Owners Group Chapter 9055 Welcome to the Brisbane Harley Owners Group! We understand the excitement and feelings that you ll enjoy when riding your Harley-Davidson motorcycle and also of the great times that lay ahead just like those of Harley riders the world over. As an established local Chapter within the Australian Harley Owners Group, we also believe that your Harley experience can be made all the better through your participation and affiliation with others who share your enthusiasm and dreams. It s a lifestyle that we can all share and enjoy together especially here in Brisbane. As they say beautiful one day, perfect the next - where else can you ride 365 days a year!! Our Chapter is both dedicated and enthusiastic having members from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, ages and experience. We also have a large number of female riders, so a BIG Welcome to you from us at Brisbane HOG! Established on the 14 th of March, 1989, Brisbane HOG has grown from a handful of members to having a membership of over 450. Each one has Harley Davidson in their blood. We hold monthly meetings each and every month on the last Wednesday of each month that start sharply at 7:30pm at the Morton Bay Sports Club 175 Boundary Street, Tingalpa Qld 4173 come and have dinner beforehand! Our meetings are informal, informative and provide you with an opportunity to meet other members, to listen and share information with the Committee and keep abreast of the latest in HOG, Harley and Dealership happenings. Our Monthly Rides are held on the 1st Sunday of each month and depart at 8:30am sharp. You should be at the departure point at 7:30am to have a coffee, register, attend the safety meeting and listen to the ride briefing. There is also an opportunity to meet other members and of course, feast your eyes on plenty of Harley Davidson Motorcycles!! Our monthly rides depart from The Morgan and Wacker dealership at, 54 Ross Street Newstead 4006. To help you get to know us we conduct an orientation briefing and ride for our new riding members on each Saturday before our monthly ride. Our newsletter, meetings and monthly rides will give you an insight into Brisbane HOG and the many faces that make it the great Chapter that it is. Our website also has information about our Chapter - www.brisbanehog.com.au Again a warm welcome, Rob Whitmore Director HOG Membership ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 1 of 13

Why become a Member? The Harley Owners Group is much more than just a motorcycle organisation. It s more than 1,000,000 people around the world united by a common passion - making the Harley-Davidson dream a way of life. The reasons that led you to joining a Harley-Davidson (HOG) club were your own and may or may not be able to be explained to all those around you as most people do not realise that it s not only a club but a Harley Davidson Motorcycle club that you ve joined it s a LIFESTYLE!. A lot more was involved with your decision to join, such as - You and your individual style. The H-D Legend, The H-D and H.O.G. lifestyle, Two Families yours and your new HOG Family The camaraderie of 1,000,000 HOGs world-wide and 16,000 HOGs in Australia The many varied events that are run by and for HOGs The H-D lifestyle is for us to know and for others to find out. It all adds up as HOG and if you haven t already seen or heard the phrase If I have to explain, you wouldn t understand when referring to the Harley-Davidson experience, then as a member of HOG it won t be long until you do! Australian or International H.O.G. There are two major classes of membership - either FULL or ASSOCIATE membership. See the H.O.G. website for membership information and the advantages of each type. Normally, the rider joins as a Full member and nominates a family member as their Associate. Full Australian H.O.G. membership is based upon owning a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and joining is as easy as this: 1. A new HD If you have purchased a new (or demonstrator) Harley-Davidson motorcycle from Morgan & Wacker, your first H.O.G. year is free from Harley Davidson Australia! Your Sales Consultant will help coordinate your enrolment at the time of your motorcycle purchase. 2. On-line If you already own a Harley, then you can become an Australian H.O.G. member by logging on to www.hog.com then select Australia and follow the prompts. You will require the VIN number of your Harley and a credit card to make the payment. 3. A used HD - If you have purchased a near-new or used Harley from Morgan and Wacker, then you can either follow step 2 above or try and twist the arm of your sales representative to try and see if they will include your first year Australian HOG membership included as part of the sale. (Only for new HOG members though) International HOG membership is based upon you as a full H.O.G. member nominating your partner, or another family member for Associate membership of H.O.G. Follow the prompts (online) or complete and send the application form. ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 2 of 13

Brisbane Chapter As a member H.O.G. you are eligible and more than welcome to join your local Chapter of HOG - in this case our Brisbane Chapter. How to become a member of the Brisbane Chapter Everything you need to join Brisbane HOG is in this membership information package. There are a few important conditions that need to be met that are related to our status as an incorporated association in Queensland. Although few in number, these additional conditions are seen as critical to the safety, enjoyment and protection of our large Chapter that regularly has more than 100 Harleys on its monthly rides. At this point it is important to make it known that you don t have to be a rider to join Brisbane HOG. Therefor there are a couple of requirements that need to be met by riding members to enable you to ride in the Main Pack on club rides. Membership Once you have read the information in this booklet and are interested in joining Brisbane HOG, then your first step will be to fill out the Chapter Membership Enrolment form and Release which is included in this package. There is no payment requirement until you have completed the next couple of requirements. We like to think of it as try before you buy. These requirements are not onerous, but are designed to give YOU the intending member a chance to look at us as a club before you part with your hard earned. Please see Eligibility headings below. New members will receive a complimentary copy of the Hogwash for 3 months and you will also get member access to the chapter website. Should you not proceed with your membership these will cease. New riding members will receive an orange card to record the attainment of the rider orientation requirements. This orientation will help those not used to riding in a large column of bikes get used to the techniques and safety measures that have kept our club safe for many years. You can complete the rider requirements in less than 6 weeks. That s how easy and simple they are! Once, as a riding member, you have completed your orientation requirements you are eligible to join the Main Pack on Chapter monthly rides. Eligibility Member 1. First and foremost, you must be a current member of H.O.G. 2. You must be eligible to hold a current open, unrestricted motorcycle licence recognised in Queensland. ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 3 of 13

Eligibility Riding Member Because we are such a large club (over 400 members) and are totally focused on riding and having fun SAFELY the club has set minimum requirements for new riding members. These requirements have been introduced over the years for two reasons. The first to let you understand us as a club, and second to introduce you to our safe riding expectations. We want you and all other members to return home to their families safely after every monthly ride. The process for all new riding members is to attend one Orientation Safety Brief and Ride (this happens on the Saturday immediately preceding the monthly ride) and then ride two club rides in the Orientation Group. As long as everyone is happy, you are then free to ride in our Main Pack a truly amazing experience. Only when the above has taken place do you need to pay your chapter enrolment fee. (See attached Fee schedule.) Previous Brisbane HOG or other HOG Chapter members If you have previously been a Brisbane Chapter Member or if you are a member of another Chapter then the Committee may consider waiving some of the Orientation requirements. If you feel that you fit into this category then complete the Chapter Membership Enrolment form and release and attach a letter setting out the reasons why you believe the Committee should consider an exemption and enclose a letter from your current Chapter confirming your membership status. You must also complete the returning member/other H.O.G. Chapter member riding requirement as found in the Safety section of this information kit. Membership fees - refer to the attached fees schedule Acceptance Your application should be submitted to our Membership Officer a few days before the last Monday of the month. This will allow the Committee enough time to review and confirm your application prior to the monthly meeting at which you will be officially accepted as a member of the Brisbane Chapter. As a member you will be given a Chapter rocker and pin, name tag, membership card and year pin. And your web access and electronic Hogwash subscription will continue. You can request a hard copy version at a small yearly fee. Annual Membership renewal Membership renewals are due as at July 1 st each year. All members must renew their memberships by completing a Chapter Membership Enrolment form and release, signing the disclaimer and paying the scheduled renewal fee(s). To assist and remind members, renewal applications are printed in the monthly Hogwash prior to the due date. Membership will automatically lapse if unpaid by the 31 st of August and members who are not financial cannot vote at the Club s Annual General Meeting. Membership Benefits In addition to the Brisbane HOG membership memorabilia that you receive when joining, members also have access to the Club s newsletter the Hogwash electronically and full access and use of the Club s website www.brisbanehog.com.au. Make sure that your email address is completed on the website so ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 4 of 13

that you can receive the bulk emails that are sent out notifying members of Chapter activities and the release of the monthly newsletter. [See the instructions on the website or contact the webmaster for assistance.] You can also stay in touch by using the chapter APP in the Apple App store or the equivalent android service. Members may also elect to receive a hard copy of the Hogwash after their inaugural membership year for a modest annual fee which is paid (separately) when you renew your membership. The greatest benefit you will receive is the ability to participate in the many organised Chapter, State and H.O.G. activities. Brisbane HOG members are able to attend club events at a reduced fee (where one exists) saving from $10, $20 or more. Brisbane is an extremely active chapter and is often asked to participate in high profile events where everyone wants to see and hear a large, well organised group of Harley-Davidson riders. We have delivered celebrities to a destination, dropped off the Groom and the Bride, ridden in parades and other events which have included up to 200 or more Harleys all riding in formation to the wild enjoyment of the crowd!! There s always something going on for Brisbane HOG members!! Our many activities include: Our Charity Our nominated charity is the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Qld (MDQ) and the Club runs an annual Charity ride to raise funds for them. Other fundraising activities may occur throughout the year supporting the MDQ. Many members also have affiliations or interests in other charities and these rides and events are announced as they arise. Coffee mornings These are usually held on the Saturday prior to the Club Ride each month at the Brishog SHACK. Come out and meet, socialise and relax with other Club members. Buy a raffle ticket you may win a great prize! Drags you can go and watch or actively participate in the annual Drag challenge series at Willowbank Raceway that is sponsored by Morgan and Wacker. Monthly Rides - Our official monthly rides are held on the first Sunday of each month, each one being organised and led by a different Ride Captain. Rides include a variety of roads, sightseeing, morning tea and a great lunch stop. They are well organised social riding events, created with the rider (and passenger) in mind to provide a great day of riding and fellowship. Other Rides In addition to the monthly rides, there are many social, breakfast, poker, charity, Christmas lights and other rides as coordinated by the Road Captain and other Club members. These are a great excuse to ride free and have lunch with a usually smaller group of Brishog members. Ladies of Harley - Our active LOH (Ladies of Harley) also has regular organised LOH rides and activities. (LOH is another benefit of membership and was established to help women become more active and involved in H.O.G. and their local chapter and may or may not be riders.) Even if they don t ride or ride another brand the girls can participate. Rallies We encourage our members participation in State and National H.O.G. events and will often organise group rides or participation in rally events. ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 5 of 13

Socials Christmas parties for the adults and kids, family fun days, coffee mornings, Valentine s Day dinner ride, overnighters/weekends and other social events are often organised by the Activities Officer and members. As you can see, there is always something to do as a member of Brisbane HOG. The best way to keep in touch with what s happening is by reading your Hogwash, scanning the Club s website or attending the monthly meeting. We also have a Facebook page and are starting to use Instagram, we also use a club App for android and apple users. If you are interested in organising a monthly or special ride, or another type of event, then you are more than welcome to nominate and present your idea to either the Road Captain or Activities Officer for consideration on our very busy HOG calendar of activities. Safety Brisbane HOG considers the development and maintenance of safe riding skills as being critical to the safety and protection of every member. Our rides are large and impressive, usually having over 100 Harleys and 120 or more people attending. As such, they MUST BE safe. In support of safe riding, we encourage members to undertake additional safe riding and/or advanced skills development courses and have previously run skills training days for members. These will continue as part of our commitment to everyone s safety and enjoyment whilst riding with Brisbane HOG. Riders who do not ride safely and uphold the Club s commitment to safe riding on any Club organised ride or activity will be assisted in rectifying the concern. Unfortunately but very rarely we may be forced to enact a disciplinary action under the Club s Rules and By-laws which may include them being asked to leave the ride. To assist in supporting, assessing and developing your group riding skills, those wanting to be riding members are required to attend the Club s Orientation Brief and Ride. This is a condition of membership and attendance is seen as being critical to increase and develop your group riding skills and to understand the Club s safe riding rules of staggered formation, road use, corner marking, etc. It is imperative that you learn, practice, develop and understand the safe riding techniques that we use. On the monthly rides, all new riding members must ride in the Orientation group which is lead by an experienced rider who wears a green vest. This will give you the opportunity to practice and hone your group riding skills and provide you with the group ride experience. This group rides at the back of the main ride group and from this position, you will see the large number of riders (sometimes up to 2 kilometres of Harleys ahead), the riding formation, corner marking, and experience the pace at which the ride travels. Safety Support Officers There are a number of Safety Support Officers who support the Safety Officer and who have been trained to identify safe riding risks. Their role is important in helping to ensure that we maintain a high level of focus and adherence to safe riding. If you are discreetly approached to by one of our Safety ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 6 of 13

team members, please listen carefully and make any requested changes to your riding behaviour. It is always in the best interests of safe riding for all of our members alternatively please feel free to use their knowledge should you have any queries that they might help you with. Riding a heavy cruiser is a little different to what you might have been used to. Rules and By-Laws The Brisbane Harley Owners Group is an association having been incorporated under the Queensland Associations Act. We were incorporated in 1989 and have maintained our legislative compliance since that time. It is important to note that our Rules and By-Laws are an important element of our Club (the Association) and are therefore necessary for the safety and protection of our large membership, the events we organise and the management and support of the large membership base. The Club Rules also include the Annual Charter for H.O.G. Chapters as is maintained by H.O.G. Australia. This information is freely available from the Secretary or on www.brisbanehog.com.au website. (Member access only) The rules are there as a need to provide a solid framework for the club, it is our desire not to force feed rules to our members unless absolutely necessary. Our goal like yours is to ride and have fun. Insurance As a member of Brisbane HOG, you may be eligible for a small discount on insuring your Harley thru various insurers like Swan and QBE. Contact Morgan and Wacker for details. Morgan & Wacker Purchases Currently, Morgan & Wacker generously offers a 10% discount on the purchase of parts and accessories to Brisbane Chapter members. Proof of current membership must be presented at time of purchase. Management Committee Brisbane HOG has an elected management committee that coordinates Club activities, manages Club resources and ensures compliance with statutory requirements. The Committee is elected annually at the Club s Annual General Meeting and consists of 4 Primary Officers and other officers as elected by the membership. The Committee is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient management of the Chapter and reports to the sponsoring Dealer and H.O.G. Australia on a number of matters. As mentioned we are an Association, incorporated in the State of Queensland and have Rules and By- Laws that are used in the management of all Club activities, events and membership. In addition, the Committee is responsible for Chapter and membership compliance with the International Charter of H.O.G. and the Association Rules and By-laws of the Brisbane Harley Owners Group Inc. If you require additional information or further details, you can contact a Committee member by e-mail as noted below. ABN 45 663 195 384 Page 7 of 13

Rev. 2016.03.08 Brisbane HOG members DO NOT wear Back patches As a social riding club with a focus on sharing the enjoyment of riding our Harleys, we continually aim to make that experience safe for riders, passengers and families alike. As a result of this commitment and in following the direction of previous Committees and our sponsoring Dealer we DO NOT wear or support the wearing of back patches in the form of large HOG patches and large chapter rockers. As the purpose of our Chapter is to promote responsible motorcycling activities in a family-orientated, non-political manner, the Committee has determined that the visible wearing of a back patch - with or without a rocker will not be allowed at any Chapter activity. As a member of HOG you receive a small HOG insignia which can be put on your vest or jacket and as a member of Brisbane HOG you receive the matching rocker to identify your Chapter membership. These should be proudly worn together on the FRONT however. In addition, although available from HOG International our ruling prevents the wearing of and/or display of the larger back patch and rocker combinations as is seen in many pictures. HOG Insignia and Chapter Rocker Chapter Rocker HOG Insignia [Both items are available in larger sizes and are worn in some overseas countries.] Brisbane HOG recommends displaying your HOG insignia and Chapter rocker on your jacket or vest as follows: Acceptable Anywhere on the FRONT rocker and HOG insignia Preferred position NOT Acceptable ANYWHERE on the back Front view (somewhere on the front) Back view [any sized HOG rocker and insignia] Any member who chooses to display a back patch on their back - with or without any chapter rocker, at a Brisbane HOG organised event or activity will be requested to remove it. If the member does not comply, the activity will not commence until the offending article is removed from view Brisbane Harley Owners Group ABN 45 663 195 384 P.O.
