How Do I Apply? You must FIRST apply to SCC and be accepted. Once you have been accepted, you will need to go to the Admission s office on the Main Campus in the Dan L. Terhune Building to complete a Notice of Completion form. You will then be directed to take this form to the Administrative Specialist for Health and Human Services in the Health Services Building (on the Main Campus) Room 144, where you will be placed on the list of students for the next semester of classes.

How Do I Apply? You must contact the Financial Aid office for ANY Financial Aid information 864-592-4810 or you may email at FA- Questions@sccsc.edu You will be required to attend a MANDATORY orientation session for the upcoming semester. Dates for the orientation session will be posted on the PCT web page. Failure to attend the orientation session will result in you not being eligible for enrollment in the PCT program for the upcoming semester.

Estimated Expenses for the PCT Program Tuition Refer to: Tuition & Fees on the SCC webpage Books Approximately $1200-$1500 Uniforms Approximately $150 (includes shoes, lab coat, patches) CBI/DT Approximately $120 (Criminal Background Check and Drug Testing) Carelearning $10 SC Nurse Aide Exam $101 CPCT Exam $155 (Certified Patient Care Technician Exam)

Estimated Expenses for the PCT Program (cont) Supplies $100 (BP cuff, stethoscope, pen light, watch) CPR $60 (MUST be American Heart Association Healthcare Provider) Liability Insurance $8 Immunizations Cost varies depends on physician (may be as much as $400) Professional Pin $10 Class Picture $10 These costs are an estimate only. This list does not include transportation costs, meals, laundering, etc. Total estimated cost (without tuition) is approximately: $2,625 for the program.

PCT Supplies You are NOT required to purchase the these items from the Book Inn. However, you are required to have these items for the program: Stethoscope & BP cuff (do not purchase a cheap one) MUST be a manual adult BP cuff Watch with a second hand (no electronic watches) Pen light Bandage scissors

What Can I Do Ahead of Time? Many students want to know what can be completed prior to notification of acceptance into the program. Spreading some of the following out, will help with finances. CPR certification and Immunizations It is also a good idea to have these current and have copies readily available. You will be required to submit documentation of your immunizations and CPR at the start of the 1 st semester of the program.

CPR Everyone Should Be Certified!!!!!! All Health Sciences programs require CPR through American Heart Association and MUST be Health Care Provider Adult and Child CPR The College now has an AHA training center through CCE. If you are in need of a class, please go to the following link: https://www.sccsc.edu/aha/ Click on View Current Class. You can register online or you can call 864-592-4900 CPR certification is good for 2 years

Immunizations All Health Sciences Programs at SCC require the same immunizations. Many immunizations were obtained as a child, and it just requires that you obtain your immunization records. It is a good time to start now, gathering this information. If you have not received one of the required immunizations, you may want to get a head start as there are multiple shots and several weeks between them.

Immunizations (cont) MMR (Measles, Mumps & Ruebella) Should have received as a child in 2 separate doses If you cannot find your immunizations, have a TITER drawn first (it s cheaper). If you are immune to all 3, then you will not require a booster. If the TITER results show that you are not immune to 1 or more, than you will require the booster. Some International students only received immunization for Measles and Mumps and NOT Ruebella. This means, these students will REQUIRE the MMR immunization.

Immunizations (cont) Varicella Vaccine against Chicken Pox This was administered in 2 doses 4 weeks apart starting in 1995. If you never received the vaccine, have a TITER drawn first. If you are immune, you are fine. If you are NOT immune, you will be required to receive the entire vaccine 2 doses 4 weeks apart. DO NOT wait until the last minute to have this immunization administered If you were born in the US after 1995, you should have received this vaccine as a child.

Immunizations (cont) Tetanus (Td) Booster booster is required every 10 years Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) this is a 1 time immunization as an adult followed by an every 10 year Td booster. It is HIGHLY recommended that health care students receive this immunization. If Td is within date, you are NOT required to receive the Tdap. Flu Vaccine All Health Sciences students are required to obtain a flu vaccine. New flu vaccines are available in late August or early September. They are only good for the current flu season.

Immunizations (cont) PPD Tuberculin Skin Test If you are currently working in a health care environment, then all that is required is your yearly, 1-step PPD result If you have NEVER had a PPD, you will be required to complete a 2-step PPD A subsequent yearly PPD will be required for the department. Please note that International students often have a positive skin test, and are required to have a chest x-ray and/or written documentation from their healthcare provider that there is NO active disease. This will also be required to be updated on a yearly basis.

Where can I have these Immunizations administered? There are a number of places within Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties where you can go to have the immunizations and/or titer taken care of. Below are a few places where you can go to have these taken care of. In addition, you may go to your Primary Health Care Provider. Accurate Diagnostics 2500 Winchester Pl Spartanburg, SC 864-538-0300 Regional Occupational Health 8311 Warren Abernathy Hwy Spartanburg, SC 864-562-5102 Cherokee County Health Department 400 S.
