Bridging the Gap Between Need and Service In a New Healthcare Environment Mobile Health Clinics ON THE MOVE Mobile Health Clinics Tour In early March, MHCA members in Boston, New York City, and Washington DC collaborated with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to present a 3-day tour on innovative care provided by mobile health clinics. The "Mobile Health Tour" sought to underscore the alignment of goals with a national network (MHCA) of mobile health clinics and those of the Triple Aims (improving the patient experience of care, improving the health of populations and reducing the per capita cost of healthcare). In each city, mobile clinics and providers gathered to share experiences of delivering care in communities to achieve better healthcare for all. Website Views Since January, the Association has seen 18,201 unique visitors to over 150 pages on the MHCA website! Website Updates Current information on the 2014 Annual Forum, mobile healthcare policy goals, and the ACA impact on mobile healthcare are available online. Board of Directors The MHCA Board met in New Orleans in February for their annual meeting. The Board wrote and approved new Vision and Core Values statements. To check out the MHCA website
click here. Regional Coalitions Regional Coalitions from across the country have begun to host their annual spring meetings. Topics such as the Affordable Care Act, Telemedicine and Program Operations are being discussed. To find a coalition meeting in your area - click here. New Eye Care Special Interest Group Connie Vavricek, VSP Vision Care and Joseph Carbone, Eye Care 4 Kids are coordinating this new Special Interest Group (SIG). At the Annual Forum in September, the SIG will meet to discuss and coordinate member needs for the future. MHCA has launched a dedicated page on its website listing mobile eye care clinics. New Member Profile Angel Wheels-to-Healing The mission of Angel Wheels-to- Healing is to ensure no patient is denied access to either basic or specialty health care services due to distance related travel. This non-profit organization partners with charitable clinics nationwide serving low-income patients. They provide resources to cover expenses for fuel to operate mobile clinic vehicles. Mobile Specialty Vehicles built a unit for Lakes Regional MHMR (Terrel, TX) equipped with a telemedicine suite to service 13 Texas counties; and a unit to Orlando Health Center (Orlando, FL). MSV also offers a system to help regulate vaccine and medication refrigeration for mobile clinics.
