July 5, 2018 Be Involved, Be Engaged, Celebrate Rotary.. July 6 No meeting due to July 4 holiday July 13 Bo King, Staff Attorney with the Federal Defender Program July 20 Brad Alexander, McGuire Woods Consulting Due to the July 4 holiday, there will not be a Decatur Rotary meeting. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing time! Join us on July 13 for Bo King, staff attorney with the Federal Defender Program at the regularly scheduled lunch meeting! Changing of the Club Leadership catered by Oakhurst Market This week at Rotary we celebrated 2017-2018 club leadership and welcomed the incoming president and board.

Decatur Rotary Club Officers President: Betty Willis President-elect: Dan DeWoskin Past President: Amy Nash Secretary: Doug Robinson First, we heard from Zoe Stephens, a rising sophomore at Decatur High School, who is sponsored by our club to participate in the Rotary International exchange program and will live in Japan for a year beginning late summer. She will be living with a family in a town 30 miles north of Tokyo. She gave a presentation about her family, home, and social activities. She is excited to go and very grateful to the club for the opportunity. Her dad, Robert Stephens, was also present. Betty Willis officially passed the gavel to new club president, Dan DeWoskin. Before passing the mantle, Betty thanked by name all the people who played a volunteer role in supporting the club over her year of leadership. Betty thanked the club for the tremendous honor of serving in this capacity. Treasurer: Chet Burge Sergeant-at- Arms: Ryan Florence The Four-Way Test In everything that we think, say or do: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Dan officially accepted the gavel and presented Betty with the "coveted past-president name badge" and thanked Betty for her service. Dan thanked and recognized his new board members Ash Gupta, Harl Pike, Terence Johnson and Joe Kusmik. Dan encouraged members to "mix it up" this year and sit at different tables. He gave a short and humorous presentation on "Things You Don't Know About Me." Dan is originally from Chicago, an avid Cubs and Bruce Springsteen fan, and apparently loves pranks. He once thought it would be nice to mow his neighbor's lawn but decided instead to just mow his first name in big cursive letters. Dan looks forward to a great year of Rotary. In closing, he wished everyone a happy July 4 holiday and shared the advice he shares with his son every day, "Do something good for someone."
