CELEBRATION OF CENTURY OF CENTURIONS In commemoration of The Historic Achievement of Ahmedabad Attaining the Glorious & Unprecedented World Record of Achieving the Historic Landmark of 101 Centurion Blood Donors Who have donated their Blood for more than 100 times The Ahmedabad Red Cross Centurion Blood Donors Club was founded on 22 nd January, 2002, when the then Red Cross President Mr. Mukesh Patel donated his blood for the 100 th time. At that point of time, he was the 25 th Centurion from among Ahmedabad Red Cross Blood Donors, notable others being his Hon. Secretary Mr. Mahesh Trivedi, Former President Mr. Justice B J Diwan and eminent Saint Swami Adhyatmanandaji!
The Ahmedabad Red Cross Blood Programme, which has enjoyed the coveted status of being India s Single Largest Blood Collector and Leading the Nation in Voluntary Blood Donation, has with its pioneering contribution in this sphere over the next 15 years, added another 76 Centurions and has now achieved the historic landmark of 101 Centurion Blood Donors, who have donated their blood for more than 100 times. With this, Ahmedabad is all set to be acknowledged as the First City in the World to attain such a Glorious and Unprecedented Record! This unique feat of Ahmedabad called for a Celebration and therefore, Ahmedabad Red Cross planned to commemorate this Historic Achievement through the CELEBRATION OF CENTURY OF CENTURIONS on the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on Sunday, 1st October, 2017. We are so privileged to have Hon ble Governorshri of Gujarat Shri O. P. Kohliji, also the President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Gujarat State, to greet us on this momentous occasion and join in the Commemorative Photo Shoot with all Centurions. CHEERS TO AHMEDABAD! THE BLOOD DONATION CAPITAL OF INDIA Worldwide 11.25 crore units of blood, being 1.5% of the global population of 750 crores, are collected annually. In India, annual collection of 1.1 crore blood units is 0.8% of its population of 134 crores. In comparison, Ahmedabad s 3.9%, representing a collection of 2.14 lakhs blood units in 2016-17, against its population of 55 lakhs, works out to nearly 5 times the All India and over 2.5 times the World Average! Having consistently ranked as the No.1 Indian City, in terms of Blood Donor to Population Ratio, Ahmedabad stands tall in World Blood Donation Statistics too!

Placed in a standard kit, the blood collection tube would stretch to nearly 700 kms in length, the distance all the way from Ahmedabad to Jaipur! Sherdil Centurions ki Jai Ho!

The Non-Stop Donation Relay! 2,14,000 Blood units collected in Ahmedabad in the year 2016-17 literally mean One Donation every 2.5 minutes. Even the fastest blood donation takes 3 minutes. At this rate in Ahmedabad, even before one Blood Donor is through, the next is in line, all set to continue the non-stop relay of blood donation!
AHMEDABAD WHERE EVERY BLOOD DONATION IS A MOMENT OF CELEBRATION! Be it a Birthday Party or a Wedding Celebration or even a Death Anniversary, both moments of joy as also pain are commemorated in Ahmedabad with the organizing of blood donation.
