IHI Open School Mission Advance health care improvement and patient safety competencies in the next generation of health professionals worldwide.
The IHI Open School Change Agent Network (I-CAN) provides project-based leadership and community organizing training to students, residents, faculty, and health professionals to improve health and health care in their local settings 11
I-CAN Leadership Training 8-week semi-synchronous online course Each week includes: 30-45 minutes of video lectures 60-minute coaching call 1-3 hours application Participants learn and apply leadership practices in fieldbased projects to improve health Improvement Science Organizing & Leadership Training Change Subject Matter Knowledge www.ihi.org/ican
I-CAN s Reach to Date >35,000 people engaged in action to advance population health >2,200 students took part in I-CAN across 41 countries >400 learners have participated in the course to lead health improvement projects Students who complete the I-CAN course report having: A better understanding of health Stronger Chapters Healthier campuses New campus relationships with community organizations

I-CAN Cycle 4 Project Spotlight Project Aim: We are organizing the leaders of the healthcare for the homeless in Rhode Island to reduce the power inequities inherent in the relationship between providers and patients experiencing homelessness by creating, distributing, and utilizing a narrative health history form by Summer 2016. Action Taken: Created and launched Narrative Health Form to be utilized by homeless individuals and practitioners during healthcare their encounters Caitlin Farrell Medical Student, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine Outcomes: Healthcare form is being created and will be piloted utilizing a homeless healthcare navigator system, as well as within two homeless healthcare clinics

Background Nigeria is one of the highest contributor to the global burden of maternal and infant mortality. MMR= 814 per 100,000 live births (WHO, 2015) Under five MR =2,300 on daily basis This is the major reason for my choice of this particular pressing and challenging topic. Healthcare in Nigeria is bedeviled with so many challenges with the low income earners as the people with most affected. Rural areas where farmers dwell are also the most affected.
