Mission To raise and invest large amounts of additional finance to support the rapid scale-up of measures to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in countries in need

Guiding principles 1. Operate as a financial instrument, not an implementing entity 2. Make available and leverage additional financial resources 3. Support programs that evolve from national plans and priorities

Targets and Results Contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals MDG 6: By 2015 halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS. By 2010, achieve universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those who need it. By 2015 halt and begin to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases MDG 4: Reduce by two-thirds the under-5 mortality rate by 2015 MDG 5: Reduce by three quarters the maternal mortality ratio by 2015
