Athletic Performance @ the Manlius Y Summer Athletic Performance Training: Take advantage of a training program designed to enhance your overall athletic ability. Sessions will focus on developing acceleration speed mechanics, multi-directional technique and increasing power through the combination of flexibility, strength and explosive exercises. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist will lead the training. Sessions will consist of: Dynamic Warm Up performed prior to every workout to prepare the body for training. Sport Specific Movements designed to increase athletic ability with energy system development. Sessions will include: o Speed or Multi-Directional (Agility) Drills o Plyometric, Foot Speed or Reaction Drills o Conditioning Strength Training program is a combination of overall body and sport-specific strengthening to enhance performance and reduce injury. Core Training will strengthen the abdominal, oblique and lumbar regions as well as develop rotational power through explosive medicine ball exercises. Age Specific Training 8-10 year old Speed & Agility Training This active one hour class will introduce your young athlete to speed and agility techniques designed to create body awareness, balance & coordination while developing a foundation of fitness. 11-13 year old Speed, Agility & Strength Training These one & ½ hour classes teach a progressive approach to speed and agility techniques and introduced the proper technique of strength & power exercises to your athlete. 14-18 year old Athletic Performance Training The focus of these two hour classes is the development & application of force by the body. Advance techniques in speed & agility teach the body to apply force in the proper direction (behind the body s center of mass), eliminating breaking forces. Advance strength & power movements in the weight room train the muscle to produce greater force. The combination of the two produces a more powerful & faster athlete.

College/College Bound Athletes For college athletes returning home for the summer or college-signed seniors preparing for their first year of college athletics. We will work closely with your college s strength & conditioning coach to design and implement a program specific to your goals and needs. The focus: advance techniques in speed & agility to teach the body to apply force in the proper direction (behind the body s center of mass), eliminating breaking forces. Along with advance strength & power movements in the weight room, which train the muscle to produce a greater force, the combination of the two will produce a more powerful, faster athlete. Pre and Post Athletic Assessments: Each athlete, age 11-Elite, will participate in an athletic assessment prior to beginning the training program. The assessment will help determine strengths and weaknesses of each athlete, which will assist us in the development of their program. At the completion of the program, as a measurement of development, each athlete will be re-assessed in each component. The assessment will measure the following: Height & Weight Unloaded Overhead Squat (measurement of Flexibility & Mobility) Vertical Jump (measurement of Power) Standing Broad Jump (measurement of Power) 40 Yard Dash (measurement of Speed & Power) Pull-Ups (Males) or Chin-Ups (Females) (measurement of Functional Upper-Body Strength) Inverted Rows (measurement of Functional Upper-Body Strength) Push-Ups (measurement of Functional Upper-Body Strength) Pro Agility (5-10-5) ( measurement of Agility & Speed) 3 Cone Drill (measurement of Agility & Speed) 300 yard Shuttle Run (measurement of Anaerobic Endurance) Body Composition Analysis (optional for 14-18 year olds)
