Small Bowel Follow Through Two circles highlight a jejunal segment (right circle) and an ilieal segment (left circle) Jejunal segments have markings or circular folds (plicae circulares / valvulae conniventes) that completely traverse the diameter at a closer interval located in the left and upper hemiabdomen. The circular markings diminish in size and frequency towards the transition into the ileum. Jejunum is larger in diameter compared to the ileal segments.
