Have You Ever Wondered A few facts about medication use and related falls The Number of Medications You Take & The Connection to Falls CONCERN: As you increase the number of medications that you take, your risk of medication-related falls may increase. WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT THIS: Ask your health-care provider to review your medication list for medications which you may no longer need or may put you at increase risk for medication-related falls. Certain medications are associated with falls CONCERN: Some medications used for the following conditions may have side effects which may increase your risk for medication related falls: o Mental Health Related: Anxiety, restlessness or movement disorders, etc. -(E.g.: Help falling asleep) Depression -(E.g.: Low mood) Thought disorders -(E.g.: psychosis or dementia [trouble remembering things]) o Pain... o Heart Related: Heart and blood pressure problems o Stomach / Bladder/ Regularity Related: Urinary control or over-active bladder o Colds and Allergies

Report side effects of medications (Such as falls) to your health-care provider. Use the Medication and Fall Risk Chart for a listing of medications and some potential side effects which may increase your risk of falls.
