February 1982 to February 1983 March 1983 to January 2003 St Mary s Hospital, London; Senior Registrar Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex. Consultant Experience: I was Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Oldchurch Hospital when I left the NHS in 2003 to concentrate on my medico-legal and private practice. During my time at Oldchurch Hospital I was instrumental in modernising and expanding the department, including updating theatre equipment and introducing a new computerised system. I acted as Clinical Lead for a period of ten years. I am an Honorary Consultant at Oldchurch Hospital still involved in research projects with the registrars. My special interest in shoulder and upper limb surgery was developed within my specialist clinics. I was a member of the Protocol Panel at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (with Mr Ian Bayley) for the development a new total shoulder replacement; the Walker-Bayley shoulder. I was the only Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Essex area who operated on the thoracic outlet and perform the specialised surgery of cervical rib excisions; I received referrals from the Neurosciences department at Oldchurch Hospital.. I had a special working relationship with the Oncologists and treated patients with bone secondaries requiring surgery ie treatment of pathological fractures and prophylactic fixation of affected bones. I performed a large amount of knee surgery, arthroscopic examination of joints and total knee replacements and stabilisation for anterior cruciate deficient knees. (I was instrumental in introducing arthroscopic work to Oldchurch Hospital when I took up my Consultant Post). I also routinely performed hip and shoulder replacements and revision joint surgery. In addition, I was actively involved in the management of trauma and fracture patients; working initially a 1 in 3 followed by a 1 in 8, on call rota whereby I was in charge of the management of all types of trauma cases, in addition to training registrars and junior doctors. Medico-Legal Experience: I have over 30 years experience in providing medico-legal reports involving all types of orthopaedic/trauma injuries including whiplash injuries of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, all types of joint injuries, crush injuries, multiple traumas, compartment syndrome etc. I undertake Medical Negligence matters, Police assault cases and have provided reports for the Home Office in cases involving Medical Appeals for Public Sector employees (Fire Service, Police Service etc). Court Experience: I attend Court as an Expert Witness on a regular basis as well as attending case conferences with Counsel and regularly prepare Joint Statements for the Court. My ratio of plaintiff/defendant cases is approximately 60/40 although I always provide a balanced report. 3

Other Projects: I have had articles published in Orthopaedic Product News regarding the King Limb Cooling machine, which has been in production and used at Oldchurch Hospital, Romford. A Paper on Limb Cooling was read at the Royal Society of Medicine by one of my registrar s; Mr Dhillon who also used this for the basis of his MSc Orth thesis. The K-nailing table has been manufactured and is in use and was used for Enders Nailing of the tibia. The results from using my method of fixation and the table designed for this purpose which made the treatment of this type of fracture less invasive and effective. Review of 100 tibial fractures using Enders nails with Mr Chockalingham was read at the British Trauma Society meeting. Review of thoracic outlet cases performed by myself at Oldchurch Hospital is currently being reviewed by Vikas Khanduja who has recently been appointed as Consultant in Cambridge. 6
