WoodGreen Community Services WoodGreen Community Services is one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto. A founding United Way of Toronto member agency, WoodGreen has grown to span 36 locations and serves 37,000 people each year. WoodGreen helps people find safe, affordable housing, seniors live independently, internationally-trained professionals enter the job market, parents access childcare, children and youth access after-school programs, newcomers settle in to Canadian life, homeless and marginalized people get off the streets and youth find meaningful employment and training. Every year, WoodGreen makes opportunities for 37,000 clients, but we could not do it without the dedication of our volunteers. The hardwork, enthsusiam and time given by our volunteers is invaluable to the work done at WoodGreen and the impact spreads throughout the community. The Corporate Volunteer Program gives your group an opportunity to make a difference in your community and gain a greater understanding of some of the critical social issues in Toronto. WoodGreen encourages employees to use their skills and talents in a rewarding way. Our corporate volunteer opportunities will provide an excellent team building experience and allow group to make a positive impact in the community.

Corporate Volunteer Opportunities Hot Meal Preparation Program Want to share a wonderful team building experience with your colleagues and make a tangible meaningful impact in your community? At WoodGreen s drop-in center, we do our best to provide our clients with healthy, nutritious meals, but we need your help to keep up with the demand. By participating in WoodGreen s Hot Meal Preparation program you will provide 40-50 street involved men and women with a healthy and wholesome hot meal - which may be their only meal of the day. Your group will have the opportunity to help with all aspects of the meal preparation process, your group will be cooking, preparing and serving the breakfast or lunch to the clients. There are a variety of options to fit the need of your group. Breakfast options are available for groups of 4 12 volunteers and runs from 9:00am to 11:30am. Lunch is suitable for a maximum of 12 volunteers and runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm. There is a cost associated with this program. Host a Barbeque Through hosting a barbeque, corporate groups will gain a great team building experience with co-workers and make a tangible and meaningful impact in your community. It is an opportunity to be a part of a community building experience where clients, staff and volunteers all come together to share a meal, conversation and community. Groups will help with all aspects of the BBQ including preparation, serving and clean-up. The BBQ is an outside event, which takes place in the summer and early fall. The ideal group size for this activity is 6 to 15 people. There is a fee to host a BBQ, this is to cover cost of food and materials. Please contact WoodGreen for more details.

After 4 Program The After 4 program is an afterschool child care service which is connected with WoodGreen s Homeward Bound program. Homeward Bound is a transformational program that assists single mothers who are living in unstable conditions make a successful transition to sustainable employment, permanent housing and independent living for themselves and their children. During the school year the After 4 program provides afterschool childcare, and in the summer runs an all-day program for children ages 6-12. They promote fun and educational activities focusing significantly on building life skills, social and emotional skills, and positive self-esteem. Your group would have the opportunity to run fun and educational activities with the children in the After 4 program. These activities could include, but are not limited to: Nutrition Activities including cooking or educational activities surrounding healthy eating Physical Activities including various sports, yoga or outdoors games STEM Activities including science experiments, the egg drop challenge and more Art Activities including visual arts, drama, music, or dance Educational Activities including lessons about life skills and positive self-esteem Ideas and talents are always welcome if your group has a great idea for a group activity, please feel free to contact us to discuss further. There is a cost associated with this opportunity and this is to cover the cost of the supplies for the activity. The cost will vary depending on the activity. Garden Improvement WoodGreen has multiple housing locations with outdoor spaces that are much loved and appreciated by our clients. These spaces provide our clients with feelings of respect and dignity for their home and helps promote positive mental health and well-being. Having an outdoor space that individuals can feel proud of helps build a sense of community and fosters community engagement. Many of our outdoor spaces could use some freshening after the winter months. This is where we could use your help, come and work outdoors in the fresh air to help us with activities such as putting new mulch in our gardens, planting flowers, weeding, creating planters and other garden activities as needed. This is a great team building opportunity for your team and it is so gratifying and fulfilling to help play a role in making an impactful difference in your community. Our garden improvement opportunities are available mid-may until end of July, Monday through Friday during business hours. The cost associated with the garden improvement projects vary based on the scope of the project, please contact WoodGreen for more details. Homeward Bound s Community Kitchen Homeward Bound is a transformational program that assists single mothers who are living in unstable conditions make a successful transition to sustainable employment, permanent housing and independent living for themselves and their children. Homeward Bound is a coordinated service delivery model that brings together the key supports families need to become self-supporting, all under one roof. Through many different social recreational activities the program strives to foster a strong community for the families. Once a month they host a community kitchen event, where all the families come together to share a meal. These community kitchen events have been a great success, feeding over 110 people at each event. By hosting a community kitchen event, your team has the opportunity to make a tangible meaningful impact in your community while have engaging in an excellent team building experience. The community kitchen event is suitable for a group with a maximum of 8 volunteers. Your group will have the opportunity to help with all aspects of the meal preparation process and the event will run from 3:30pm to 7:00pm. There is a cost associated with the opportunity which is directly used for the food and supplies needed for the community kitchen event.

Adult Day Program WoodGreen Community Services Adult Day Program (ADP) & Enhance Adult Day Program (eadp) is a supervised social recreational programs for seniors who are frail or who have cognitive behavior challenges. WoodGreen s day programs play an important role in providing respite for caregivers who are supporting their loved ones & need support. Day programs also offer meals and transportation along with a socialrecreational environment. At our Adult Day Program clients participate in exercises, therapeutic recreation activities, cognitive fun games & social gatherings that help them to stay active & healthy to live independently. Volunteering at the ADP will provide your group with an opportunity to give back to the community and participate in a fun, interactive day. Corporate groups have the opportunity to host a meal with the ADP, facilitate and participate in therapeutic recreation activities, or host special events and celebrations. This event is suitable for a maximum of 30 volunteers in the summer and a maximum of 20 volunteers during other seasons. The cost of this corporate volunteer event will depend on the activities your group participates in, please contact WoodGreen for more details.

Create a Care Package For those living in poverty, access to basic necessities can be limited. Affording items such as nutritious food and hygiene products can be impossible. Give back in your community and help make these basic necessities accessible to everyone. Create care packages that will be handed out to WoodGreen's clients who struggle to afford these basic necessities. Groups can create these care packages in their own workplace and arrange to deliver them to WoodGreen or arrangements can be made to create these packages at a WoodGreen location. Please see below for types of care packages and items most needed. Food Care Package, could include any combination of the following items: Canned tuna/salmon Peanut Butter Canned hearty soups Crackers Ensure Soft granola bars Instant coffee/tea Powdered milk Canned vegetable / Canned fruit Pudding cups Trail mix Dried fruits Boxed juice Instant soups Instant oatmeal Can opener Hygiene Care Packages, could include any combination of the following items: Deodorant Band aids Toothbrush/Toothpaste Hand wipes Shampoo/Conditioner Razors/Shaving Cream Body Wash/Soap Feminine Hygiene Products Cough Drops Tissues Chap Stick Thick socks Blankets Hat, Mitts, Scarf

Youth Care Package, could include any combination of the following items: Backpack Scientific Calculator Geometry set Planner Reusable water bottle Socks Hand sanitizer Deodorant Toothpaste/Toothbrush Tissue packs Gum Granola Bars Small gift cards for Tim Hortons or grocery store TTC tickets for youth These are not exhaustive lists of items, but gives a good guideline of items that would have an impact for our clients. This is your teams opportunity to be creative, your team can decide how much to put in each care package, what goes in each one, what the care packages are packed in and your team can mix and match items from different lists.
