French III adds t the student s understanding f the structure f the French language and als increases his/her vcabulary. The emphasis n fundamentals cntinues in this curse. Cultural awareness fcuses n the 35 French-speaking cuntries f the wrld. Althugh it is unrealistic t expect t be fluent in any language after nly ne r tw years f classrm study, there is much yu can achieve by the end f French III. The gals f this curse are t help yu: Develp sufficient understanding f the French language t cmmunicate effectively at a basic level in real-life situatins. This means that nt nly will yu learn the vcabulary and grammar f the French language and use them in reading, listening, writing, and speaking, but yu will als acquire cultural knwledge f France and ther Francphne cuntries. By the end f the year yu can expect t be able t handle a variety f functins in French: asking fr and btaining infrmatin, purchasing, rdering fd, expressin pinins and preferences, making excuses, describing activities and cnditins in the past, and making cmparisns. Yu will be able t talk abut different tpics, such as yur leisure activities, dining, travel, and yur state f health.
