Vocabulary 1. obesity (n.) the condition of being very fat or overweight obese (adj) (of people) very fat, in a way that is not healthy 2. diabetes (n.) a medical condition that makes the patient produce a lot of urine and feel very thirsty 3. flu shot (n.) a vaccine which provides immunity to a variety of influenza viruses and is updated and recommended annually 4. supplements (n.) a thing that is added to something else to improve or complete it ex. vitamin/dietary supplements 5. insomnia (n.) the condition of being unable to sleep ex. to suffer from insomnia 6. (dental) braces (n.) a metal device worn, often by children, inside the mouth to help their teeth grow straight ex. My daughter has to wear braces on her teeth. 7. cosmetic surgery (n.) medical operations to repair injury to a person's skin, or to improve a person's appearance 8. work out (exercise, esp. weightlifting) to train the body by physical exercise ex. I work out regularly to stay in shape. 9. floss = dental floss (n.) a type of thread that is used for cleaning between the teeth 10. caffeine (n.) a drug found in coffee and tea that makes you feel more active 5

11. occupation (n.) a regular activity or hobby ex. It seems to me his favorite occupation is eating. 12. symptom (n.) any feeling of illness or physical or mental change which is caused by a particular disease ex. He's complaining of all the usual flu symptoms - a high temperature, headache and so on. 13. stroke (n.) a sudden change in the blood supply to a part of the brain, which can cause a loss of the ability to move particular parts of the body ex.
