Head should be in midline and chin parallel to floor Use a mirror whenever possible to assure desired oral and facial posturing. Breathe regularly during ALL exercises. Even if holding air in mouth, breathe through nose. Be sure to report to your Therapist any problems encountered during practice sessions. You may not be expeced to match the degree of the position shown in an exercise picture. Your Therapist will talk to you about your desired goal. CHEEK EXERCISES: GENERAL TIPS CHEEK SENSORY - 5 Intra-Oral Air Stimulation: Sides Keep lips closed during all movements, except when told to open mouth. Suck in air. Close lips and push air into both cheek cavities. Avoid pushing out lips. not allow air to escape. For exercises using both sides, it is important to move both sides evenly and not to move one side faster than the other. Remember the illustrated positions may be beyond your ability, but will help you with the desired muscle movements. Page 1 of 5

Bite down so pressure is felt, but without hurting or damaging tongue. Keep tongue tip pointed. Feel the stretch in the back of the tongue.
