St Michael s School 20 September, 2017 Newsletter No: 3 Fun Run Thank you to the enormous St. Michael s family who took part in the Mayor s Fun Run on Sunday. Our team was by far the biggest. The togetherness, the friendship and the fun, not to mention the resilience shown, just embodied the spirit of St. Michael s. Volunteers We had a wonderful bunch of parents, grandparents and friends attend the Volunteers meeting yesterday. It was good fun getting to know you and we look forward to working with you this year. Scholars Programme Well done to the ex-year Five (currently Year Six) children who took part in the Scholars Programme and worked so hard throughout and produced a mini-dissertation. Their graduation ceremony is at King s College University on Saturday. We are very proud of them. Bikeability Bikeability cycling skills starts next week for those children in 5F who have signed up for it. Please leave your bikes on the field next to the railings as you come in on Monday morning. Bikes should be taken home each day. Please don t forget your waterproof coats and most importantly, your bike helmets!
Swimming It was great to hear from the swimming instructors that they always look forward to St. Michael s visits to the pool because our children are always so polite, well behaved and follow instructions. We are pleased to say that we have been told that this year group is just as wonderful as their predecessors. Ocean Maths Our Year Four and Five parents did wonderfully at their Ocean Maths sessions last week the children weren t too bad either! All feedback was that it was great fun and well worth attending. This week, Year Two s session will be on Friday at 9am and next Wednesday and Thursday will be for Year s One and Three respectively. A Big Day for Reception On Monday, our Reception classes will be staying for lunch for the first time and then staying to carry on with the Reception fun all afternoon as well. Little do they know, it will be every day now until they are eighteen Harvest Service Year Four have been busy planning for and preparing our Harvest Service. Please join us at St. Michael s Church tomorrow (Thursday, 21 st September) to celebrate everything God has given us. 10am Gabriel service led by 4S 2pm Raphael Service led by 4G We would be very grateful for a small harvest gift (see list); please send any gifts in tomorrow with the children; if they cannot manage to carry it themselves, gifts can be left in the hall on the stage, many thanks. Harvest gifts will be donated to the North Enfield Foodbank. I am aware of the fact that some parents have children in different houses and it can be difficult to attend both. The following information might help you to choose which service to attend for each festival. Just a reminder of the Angel Houses for this year: Save The Date: *** St Michael s Spring Ball *** After the brilliant success of last year s Sensory Room Ball, where we raised an amazing amount of funds for our Sensory Room, we are planning to hold another ball! The Sensory Room is now built; the next job is to equip it. Last year s Spring Ball was loads of fun, the food was amazing and everybody had a fantastic time. So save the date in your diaries, more info to follow! St Michael s Spring Ball Saturday 28 th April 2018 Enfield Golf Club Year Six Parents At 6pm on Monday, 25 th September, there will be a short meeting for parents of children starting the process of transferring to secondary school. Mr Brown and Miss McGunnigle will be talking parents through the whole process and will stay around to chat with parents about what to expect. Do not worry if you cannot make that time or date because the same information will be presented at various times, and in various locations, around the borough. Year 6 School Journey The first deposit of 50 for the Year 6 School Journey was due by Friday, 8 th September. Thank you very much for the payments we have received so far. Firm places will be booked with the company shortly, so this first deposit of 50 must have been made via Parentpay by 22 nd September at the latest; otherwise a booking will unfortunately not be able to be made for your child. Church News Harvest Festival Service at St Michael s Church Sunday 24 th September, 10am Come and join us for everyone's favourite festival - Harvest Thanksgiving. Our all-age Eucharist at which our Uniformed organisations parade, will be a fitting celebration of thanks for all that God gives us in creation and for our daily needs, and a chance to think of those less fortunate than ourselves. We will offer Harvest gifts ourselves, which will be donated as usual to The North Enfield Food Bank, and break the Harvest Loaf that we will share in Communion. We will be rounding off our celebrations with a Barbecue in the Church Grounds see you there!
PTA News Macmillan Coffee Morning Friday 29 September You are warmly invited to The WORLD S BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING IN SUPPORT OF MACMILLAN. So, do join us for coffee, tea and cakes. You know you deserve it! and... do bring some cash as we are supporting a really worthy cause, MACMILLAN. Of course, we need cakes to eat and I know some of you love to bake, so please treat us and donate a homemade cake, biscuits or whatever! Shop bought cakes are absolutely welcome too. You can leave them in the School Office on Friday 29th September. VERY IMPORTANTLY, we would especially like to welcome all new parents or carers - so hope you can make it! Pre-school children are welcome but will need to be supervised by their adult. Quiz Night Saturday 14th October 2017, 7:30pm onwards Amazing prize money of around 8,000 (pence) Back by extremely popular demand, the usual format of quiz, fish and chip supper, finely stocked bar, charming compere etc. Please see our flyers below - also appearing soon in the children s book bags - to book your tables for this must attend evening. Please note that space is limited, so tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis get those forms in early to avoid disappointment.
