About the BASH Awards Come and join in the fun! For the first time in Devon, we are pleased to bring you the new BASH awards, which will take place on 4th March 2017. The BASH awards (be Active, be Safe, be Healthy) have been developed specifically for people with disabilities. The award categories include seven areas based on being active, keeping safe and staying healthy. They will recognise the winning individual (or group) and a runner up. Winners will each receive a certificate and a medal and runners up will receive a personalised certificate. The awards start at 6:30pm and will finish by 9:30pm. The event will include a light buffet, a fun quiz and award presentations which will be presented by Devon s Police commander Chief Superintendent Jim Colwell. The BASH awards aim to recognise the positive achievements that people with disabilities have made in their efforts to be more active, keep safe and take up a healthy lifestyle. They have been developed by the Blue Light Day planning group. It s free to attend! The Bash awards are open to people with disabilities, their carers, family and friends, so please come along and celebrate their successes. There is a free buffet, but please remember to bring money for drinks at the bar. Please reserve your place Places must be booked. Nominaton categories We are looking for nominations of people who have shown positive contributions in the following categories: 1. Making healthy choices has made a positive change to make healthier choices? Examples could include following a healthy eating lifestyle, learning new cooking skills, giving up smoking and so on. 2. Taking up a new sport or actvity has taken up a new sport or activity to change their lifestyle? Examples could include getting involved in a new activity, taking part in a sponsored event, or learning a new sport. 3. Learning and achievement has learnt something new or who has achieved something worthwhile? Examples could include completing a course, learning a new skill or gaining a qualification.

7. Community champion (volunteer) 4. Act of bravery demonstrated bravery? Examples could include someone who is very brave when faced with many challenges, or someone who has been a local hero. 5. Act of kindness performed an act of kindness which has made a difference to someone else s life? Examples could include helping someone with their weekly shopping, looking after someone through illness, taking someone s pet for daily walks or even keeping a person company who is lonely. 6. Keep safe ambassador done good work around keeping safe? Examples could include being involved in the Safe Places scheme, taking part in the Police/Devon Link-Up Keeping safe sessions, or keeping safe online. 7. Community champion (volunteer) done exceptional work in their local community? Examples could include helping out at a local club, or making a difference somehow to their local community?
