I3U Open Access to Research Results and Research Information Services (commitment #20) Project Steering Meeting and Stakeholders Meeting 29-30 September 2016 Venue: EIZ, Zagreb Maja Jokić (IDIZ) and Andrea Mervar (EIZ) This project is co-funded by the European Union
Commitment #20 map Commitment 20. Open Access (OA) to Research Results/Research Information Service Commitment's rationale Solution Main impact channels Main types of impact Indicators Outcome (long-run) Boost benefits of publicly-funded investment by increasing spillovers through free access to research results (especially important for SMEs) Promote open access to the results of publicly funded research Make open access to publications the general principle for projects funded by the EU research programmes Support the development of smart research information services that allow easy access to research results Repositories with open access to project results; peer-reviewed scientific journals and other scientific information Repositories with open access to research data E-infrastructures to access and preserve scientific information in digital age Economic: increased productivity of research increased visibility and usage of research increased productivity of enterprises due to access to information for R&D Social: increased transparency of research policymakers can make evidence -based decisions improved science -literacy of citizens Input indicators (stock and growth over time): funding of open access repositories no. of open access repositories no. of peerreviewed journal s included in OA repositories no. of data sets included in OA repositories Output indicators (stock and growth over time): citation of open access sources + other scientometric indicators altmetrics survey data on usage by firms (in particular SMEs) Innovation GDP Employment Competitiveness /productivity

Altmetrics and Survey data on usage by SMEs) Altmetrics: Reliable sources, data and methodological instruments do not yet exist, especialy for journal as a unit for measuring! For some journals and portals it is possible to see number of visits, downloads (e.g. Croatian national journals portal http://hrcak.srce.hr/?lang=en) Survey data on the usage of OA sources and journals by SMEs S
