GOLDER TRUST FOR ORPHANS NEWSLETTER DEC/JAN 2017 Welcome to our newsletter, where you will see how your contributions assist in improving lives. Read about how employees around the world are helping us; and how you can get involved in helping to create sustainable solutions that make a difference! Golder Trust for Orphans wishes you all the very best for 2017. STORY OF THE MONTH GOLDER TRUST FOR ORPHANS Holiday Smiles Campaign - 2016 We had a fantastic response to our Campaign! A BIG THANK YOU to ALL our generous Donors. It is because of YOU we were able to fulfil our commitment of ensuring every child in the NGO s we help to support received a gift. Just look at the Holiday Smiles you gave to vulnerable children in December 2016 / January 2017. A BIG THANK YOU to ALL our generous Donors

Lily of the Valley Everyone had a lot of fun on Christmas day. The children requested steak and chips for Christmas lunch - (no vegetables or salad, though this was provided). This was followed by Ice cream. We organised jumping castles and the mechanical bull was brought back by popular demand! ACET New Year s party This year, Willard decided to celebrate bringing in the new year with the children. The children had a scrumptious meal followed by cake! The donations also enabled ACET to hand food packs out. On behalf of the children and community, Willard would like to thank all donors for the assistance. The children had a fabulous time. Bulembu Christmas is always a big deal at Bulembu! This is a highlight of their year and the children were treated to a variety of meats, salads, vegetables and desserts. It was a blessed day together as a family even though it rained, we had the party in the church hall. We are grateful for the rain over this drought stricken land.

ACET - Zimbabwe PROJECTS Graduation Day The 30th November ACET ECD held their 2nd graduation ceremony. Kim Lloyd (GTO Trust Manager) attended the graduation as guest of honour. All community volunteers attended the event to support the children. The high school choir also attended and sang beautifully. The children received their certificates, graduation caps and gifts to mark their achievements. During the ceremony, the teachers planned an array of activities to keep the children (and the guests) entertained. This was another way to show the community how much the children have learnt this year (building puzzles, balance challenges and their version of Simon Says was Jon Says ) They all had great fun. The children love the school so much, they were all crying to come back the next day even though it was holiday time! Golder staff from a previous volunteer trip helped to build this ECD school. It s had such an impact on the community. Thanks to all volunteers and donors you will never know how much you are helping improve the lives of others. We are so proud of the Acet ECD Graduates!

Golder Associates Offices Golder Denmark and Sweden GLOBAL NEWS Christmas Initiative Our local Swedish and Danish employee 2016 Christmas gift was an online choice between a company branded down jacket, a branded computer bag or I decline Christmas gift. If our employees selected I decline Christmas gift the company promised to donate funds to GTO. In the same online response form ALL employees were also offered to give a onetime donation or to start monthly payroll donations. All in all, as a sign of appreciation to our employees that are now monthly donors or declined a Christmas gift this year, we have provided a GTO cut-out logo metal stickers and a paper format sign of recognition. Niclas Fungmark Golder Sudbury Golder Calgary Rainy or cloudy they are a ray of sunshine! Che McRae challenged Alana Arcand to dress up like a cloud for her Office 365 lunchtime presentation. If the challenge was met, Che said he would donate $20 to Golder Trust for Orphans. Che also agreed to donate $50 if Alana could get Bryan Wilson to dress up as well. Challenge accepted! Alana and Bryan greeted all participants in costume as they entered the room which filled up so much a second room was opened. The costumes were enjoyed by all. Che the GTO looks forward to receiving your donation towards the Holiday Smiles Campaign. Thank you for your generosity! Holiday Smiles - Dave s Dinner at Red Lobster The Calgary office had a fundraiser at the end of last year selling gift cards for various shops and restaurants. Dave Anstey (Associate), originally from Perth now living in Calgary, has been missing the amazing seafood he used to get in Perth so wanted to try the Red Lobster restaurant to have a little seafood while in the mountains. Golder Montreal On the move The Montreal office has moved again (twice within a year) and; with all the moves sold a few items for a total of $1.037,10 Golder Vancouver Bake Sale! The Vancouver office had a bake sale, scarf sale and a competition to win some Canucks tickets in December last year. They managed to raise over $1000! A big thank you to everyone s participation and support, much appreciated. Furniture $16,10 Packs of 500 paper sheets (colored) $16,10 Recycling drink cans $16,10 So Dave enjoying his lobster was all part of the funding for Holiday Smiles - thanks Dave!
