Body Weight and BMI BMI - Know Your Ideal Weight People are very concerned about their weight. But what is the basis for determining obesity or emaciation? You should know your ideal weight first. The key is BMI. What is BMI? Abbreviations of the initials "B M I" of Body Mass Index (= physical index). It is an international standard to determine obesity. BMI can be obtained by means of very simple calculations. BMI=Weight (kg) / Height (m) / Height (m) Body composition monitor calculates BMI based on registered personal data "height" and measured "weight" The ideal weight is the weight when BMI is 22 Weight Display example weight: 52.3kg BMI Display example BMI: 20.3 What is your BMI? Generally, the ideal BMI is 22, because people maintaining this BMI value will seldom suffer diseases due to obesity or emaciation and can be longeval. The ideal weight, i.e., the weight when BMI is 22, is calculated as follows: Ideal Weight (kg) = 22 Height (m) Height (m) Example: For a person tall 1.55 cm 22 1.55 1.55 = 52.855 -> Approx. 52.9 kg However, since BMI is calculated with height and weight, determination on those athletes who are more muscular and therefore have a higher weight may not be accurate. 31 Application Guide

More fat, but muscle, blood, bone and other ingredients account for less proportion. If it continues, it will cause physical functional decline and damage your health. People of this type cannot be judged from the appearance, so it is hard to realize himself/herself. For a lack of sports or extreme weight reduction activities such as repeated dieting, even when food intake is not much, heat is easily turn into fat. So the balance of diet should be noted and exercise habit shall be formed in normal times. * 2 "Muscle obesity" type with higher BMI and lower fat Looks obese, but fat is in or under standard. This type of people are mainly engaged in regular exercise or work with much exercise. There is no problem in current state. However, if they stop exercising, but continue the original eating habits, the intake of calories is relatively high compared to the amount of exercise. At the same time, the previously accumulated muscles are reduced; instead, fat is constantly increased. So, you could quickly become obese. Eating habits shall be noted after the amount of exercise is reduced. Measuring Methods and Measuring Results Care and Maintenance Appendix Application Guide 32

Body Fat, V-FAT and S-FAT Analyze fat Depending on where fat is distributed in the body, it is classified as visceral fat or subcutaneous fat. Studies have found that visceral fat has a lot to do with the occurrence of lifestyle-related diseases. Please analyze your body fat below. What is body fat percentage? Percentage of body fat in body weight. Body fat percentage (%)=(body fat weight (kg)/body weight (kg))x100 The device uses BI method to estimate your body fat percentage. ( Page 39) Body fat percentage Classification Display example body fat percentage: 23.0% Classification: normal Visceral fat level Visceral fat index determination Display example visceral fat level: 3 Classification: normal Subcutaneous fat percentage Body fat percentage classification criteria for Men and women are different Mention body fat and a bad impression is always given. However, in fact, body fat plays roles in energy storage and viscera protection, etc. Too much body fat is naturally not good, but too little is not conducive to good health. Because men and women have different body fat distribution, so the classification criteria are different. Body fat percentage classification Male Body fat percentage Female 5.0-9.9% 5.0-19.9% 10.0-19.9% 20.0-29.9% 20.0-24.9% 30.0-34.9% 25.0% - 35.0% - Classification Low Normal High Very High <Refer to the obesity classification values provided by Lohman (1986) and Nagamine (1972)> Display example subcutaneous fat percentage (whole body): 20.6% 33 Application Guide

What is visceral fat level? Fat and visceral fat index The results obtained by dividing fat area surrounding the viscera on the CT scan image of abdomen into 30 levels and calculated by the our unique calculation method. What is subcutaneous fat percentage? The more visceral fat there is, the higher the risk of diseases caused by lifestyle It was pointed out in the report of Obesity Diagnostic Criteria Research Committee of the Japan Society of Obesity, and learned from studies on visceral fat area and quantity of complications damaging health, if the visceral fat area value is over 100 cm 2, quantity of complications will significantly rise, and average quantity of complications will be more than 1.5. If the visceral fat area value is over 150 cm 2, quantity of complications will significantly rise, and average quantity of complications will be more than 2. * So-called complications refer to lifestyle-related diseases caused by obesity (mainly Type 2 diabetes, abnormal fat metabolism and hypertension, etc). Percentage of subcutaneous fat weight in body weight. Subcutaneous fat percentage (%)=(subcutaneous fat weight (kg)/body weight (kg)) 100 * Subcutaneous fat percentage of different parts refer to the percentage of subcutaneous fat weight in weight of all parts. Visceral fat level classification Visceral fat level 0.5~9.5 10.0~14.5 15.0~30.0 Classification Normal High Very High * This product cannot display visceral fat level of users under 17 years old. * There is condition of low body fat percentage and high visceral fat level, and condition of high body fat percentage and low visceral fat level. * Visceral fat level is always a roughly number. For medical diagnosis, please consult a doctor. Visceral fat obesity and subcutaneous fat obesity Foreword Before Measuring (various settings) Measuring Methods and Measuring Results Visceral fat =fat surrounding internal organs Too much visceral fat is thought to be closely linked to increased levels of fat in the bloodstream, which can lead to common diseases such as hyperlipidemia and diabetes, which impairs the ability of insulin to transfer energy from the bloodstream and using it in cells. In order to prevent or improve conditions of common diseases, it is important to try and reduce visceral fat levels to an acceptable level. People with high visceral fat levels tend to have large stomachs. However, this is not always the case and high visceral fat levels can lead to metabolically obese. Metabolically obese (visceral obesity with normal weight) represents fat levels that are higher than average, even if a person s weight is at or below the standard for their height. [Example of visceral fat obesity] (CT image of the abdomen) Subcutaneous fat= fat below the skin Subcutaneous fat not only accumulates around the stomach but also around the upper arms, hips and thighs, and can cause a distortion of the body s proportions. Although not directly linked to increased risk of disease, it is thought to increase pressure on the heart and other complications. Subcutaneous fat is not displayed in this unit, but is included in the body fat percentage. [Example of subcutaneous fat obesity] (CT image of the abdomen) Care and Maintenance Appendix Application Guide 34

RM and Skeletal Muscle Increase skeletal muscle through sports Skeletal muscle is the muscle maintaining physical activity. Maintenance and increase of skeletal muscle is closely related to resting metabolism. RM and muscle are described below. What is RM? Regardless of your activity level, a minimum level of caloric intake is required to sustain the body s everyday functions. Known as the resting metabolism, this indicates how many calories you need to ingest in order to provide enough energy for your body to function. RM Display example RM: 1181 kcal Skeletal Muscle Display example skeletal muscle (whole body): 28.7 % Resting metabolism accounts for 60%-70% of total energy consumption of a day The total energy consumption in 1 day is the sum of the following 3 items. (Refer to the figure below) Resting metabolism Daily activity Metabolism Diet-induced thermogenesis The energy necessary to sustain life Energy consumed in daily activities such as commuting, work, homework and hobbies Energy emitted in the form of heat after eating The ratio of these is 60%-70% for resting metabolism, 20%-30% for daily activity, and 10% for diet induced thermogenesis. This means that resting metabolism accounts for most of our daily energy consumption. If our daily caloric intake exceeds the amount of energy required for these activities, the additional calories can be stored as fat. 35 Application guide

BM and muscle What is skeletal muscle? Muscle is divided into two types, muscle in internal organs, such as the heart, and muscle attached to bones that is used to move the body. Skeletal muscle can be increased through exercise and other activity. What is skeletal muscle percentage? Percentage of skeletal muscle weight in body weight. Skeletal muscle percentage (%)=(skeletal muscle weight (kg)/ body weight (kg)) 100 The device uses BI method to estimate your skeletal muscle percentage. ( Page 39) Foreword How to deal with the problem that resting metabolism reduces gradually with the increase of age? Resting metabolism will be reduced year by year after reaching a peak in the latter half of a teenager. This is because that body functions gradually decline as people get older. The decrease in skeletal muscle weight is the main reason. Even if the body muscle does not make any movement, it also consumes a certain amount of energy in one day and emits heat. Heat plays a part in "body temperature maintenance" of resting metabolism. If muscle weight is reduced, energy consumption within 1 day will be reduced. On the condition of a decline in resting metabolism, if one still keeps eating habits as when they were young, a "midlife obesity" consequence will be resulted. To prevent this from happening, we need to know our resting metabolism and keep exercising to maintain and increase skeletal muscle weight. Shape not-easily-obese habitus by maintaining and increasing skeletal muscle! This product feature is the measurement of skeletal muscle percentage. Build energy consumable habitus (not-easilyobese habits) by the means of increasing skeletal muscle and improving resting metabolism. Enhance muscle strength as well, to bring you a high quality of life. Before Measuring (various settings) Measuring Methods and Measuring Results Care and Maintenance Appendix Application guide 36
