Help us find the Social Worker of the Year 2017
Social Worker of the Year Awards 2017 The Social Worker of the Year Awards recognise the excellent and diverse work that takes place in the profession, celebrating the many outstanding achievements of social workers in children s and adult services across England. Trustees The awards have grown remarkably over the past five years and last year we were delighted to host an exclusive ceremony for 350 social workers, directors of services, councillors and leading industry figures. It was a truly fantastic evening of celebration and recognition for the entire social work sector. The credibility of the awards is now well established and the event is officially recognised by the Department for Education and Department of Health. In 2016, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Community Health and Care, David Mowat MP, attended the event and the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt. Hon Justine Greening MP, and the Minister of State for Vulnerable Children and Families, Edward Timpson MP, personally pledged their support. In 2016 we also welcomed three charity patrons, Tim Loughton MP, Baroness Valerie Howarth and Shadow Children s Minister, Emma Lewell-Buck MP. Each of our Patrons is a champion for social work and social workers and we re delighted to have their support. The social work profession is a unique and complex one but these awards provide a rare opportunity to recognise the critical role that social workers play in communities across England. They really do change futures every day and we must celebrate their vital contribution. Rt. Hon Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for Education Unfortunately, this challenging work too often goes unrecognised, which is why I believe it s important to celebrate excellent social work and the dedication, passion and outstanding achievements of social workers across our country, who work tirelessly in the best interests of the people they are tasked to help. David Mowat MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Community Health and Care The annual Social Worker of the Year Awards is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the great work that goes on in our profession around the country. It is so important that the individuals and teams striving to make people s lives better are given credit for the challenging work they do, in the face of what can feel like overwhelming criticism from the public and the media. Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker for Children & Families Social workers spend so much of their time working with people to support and enable them to lead the best lives they can that they don t even think about being recognised for this complex and challenging work. Therefore, it is brilliant to see social workers enjoying the all too rare acknowledgement of the crucial and courageous work they do in communities across the country.
