RCM Sean M. ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. Chair Lou Ann (report attached) Meeting called to order. Many positions at Region level remain vacant. Nominations are still needed. (see www.akna.org/region ARSCNA Guidelines - for further information on duties and requirements for Region Service vacancies) Lou Ann can pro tem people into vacant positions October meeting of Region will be accepting nominations. Area GSR s will have time before voting in January 2017 to take nominations back to their Areas for discussion and vote. 2. Vice Chair (No report position remains vacant) 3. Secretary Summer (no written report) 4. Treasurer Lou Ann gave report (Treasurer position is still vacant) Current balance on August 17, 2016 - $12,274.00.

AREA REPORTS 1. Anchorage Report from Arlene (Please email report to Secretary & Chair) a. Highlights of Arlene s report include: i. Current Treasury balance is $2637. No donation to Region this time. ii. There are 21 active groups in the Anchorage Area including those in the Mat-Su Valley and Eagle River iii. There are now 4 meetings in the Mat-Su Valley and a Group Support Forum (GSF) iv. Arlene called in from Nome to attend while on her vacation. Thank you Arlene! 2. Golden Heart Sean from GH filled in members on key items due to Tony A. s absence (No report received via email) a. Golden Heart Area report is available at the Golden Heart Area website b. Meeting are growing with some noted colorful members attending. There is a lack of support for new attendees. c. All subcommittee positions are filled at this time with one exception GH needs a Vice Chair d. GH Area (Are we sure about this sounds like convention committee?) has been meeting twice each month due to the upcoming convention in October 3. Kenai Area Dennis (Report attached) (Please email report to Secretary & Chair the file we received is corrupted) a. All service positions are filled b. Treasury balance after Campvention costs were deducted is $18,000.00 (see report for exact balance and replace) c. In the past months Kenai PR organized road trips to Homer and presented information about the NA program to health professionals and police. d. Eagle 105FM radio in Kenai will be airing NA Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for the Kenai Region e. Activities subcommittee is holding a great variety of functions f. Summer brought to Kenai Region s attention they may be receiving emails intended for the Convention Committee in Fairbanks due to a misprint on the July & August 2016 meeting schedule. Sean of GH Area provided the correct email to send inquiries to for the October 2016 Convention. The correct email address is arcna32info@gmail.com. g. Technology sometimes does not work as it is designed to and Dennis will resend his report since original was corrupted and neither computer platform was able to open it. Thank you Dennis

SUBCOMITTEE REPORTS 1. Regional Delegate Tony L. (Absent No Report) 2. Alternate Regional Delegate Frank P. (report attached) a. Highlights of Franks report are as follows along with brief details of discussion: i. Barrow is exploring virtual meetings and a help line to reach more people in their area (specific to the North Slope community). Virtual Teleconference (VTC) has a bridge (most clinics in the Barrow area use this technology). VTC would be helpful to facilitate outreach to Village, Hope City, etc. ii. Barrow welcomes any ideas and outreach from other Alaska Areas and groups iii. Frank has contacted the ARCNA 32 Programming Committee and requested a time slot to present NA World Service Conference (WSC) materials 3. 2016 Convention Chair Dave S. No written report (see www.akna.org/fairbanks for the June Golden Heart Area report per Dave S.) a. Past minutes including August 2016 are available on the convention link at www.akna.org. b. Dennis RCM for Kenai Area sent Squares to Rich B. Reg. Chair for the ARCNA 32 Convention committee in Fairbanks 4. Hospitals and Institutions Doug P. s (report attached) a. There is a Logo Contest for Project Primary Purpose. Entries are due September 26, 2016. b. The Palmer Correctional Center is closing September 9, 2016 c. Regional H&I has a budget and that can be used for literature 5. Public Information (No report) Lou Ann is Acting PI Chair until Vacancy can be filled 6. Literature - Vacant OLD BUSINESS 1. Vote on the Motion to send the Alternated Regional Delegate (ARD) to the Western States Zonal Forum (WSZF) every two (2) years and to include this as a line item in the Region Budget for the appropriate years. Vote was postponed until October 2016 meeting. a. The Budget Committee should be forming now. 2. Regional Phone Line update work on contact and meeting lists a. Kenai Area has sent an updated list b. Anchorage Area RCM Arlene hasn t had a reply from Anchorage Area PI 3. Revised Guideline Review a. All RCMs indicated that their Areas would like time to review. Guideline revision is still in review. 4. Literature Chair Nomination NONE

a. Produces a Regional Newsletter b. Facilitates workshops c. Keeps informed of new literature d. Comment from Doug the Alaska Region did not really participate in the Traditions Book comment and review process. 5. Nomination for remaining vacant Region positions a. Anchorage has sent nominations back to groups for Regional PI (Doug P), and Alternate Regional Delegate (Alan Mc) and will bring nominations to October meeting b. Frank will move into the Regional Delegate position now held by Tony L. c. Kenai Area has a nomination in the works for H&I (Audrey). d. Areas are invited to bring nominations. NEW BUSINESS 1. Formation of an Ad Hoc Budget Committee a. Dennis from Kenai b. Sean from Golden Heart c. Audrey from Kenai d. Doug P. from Anchorage 2. Barrow will be added to the helpline a. Lou Ann will contact Switchboard to have this done for communities within the Barrow area (Arctic Slope communities and possibly more) ACTION ITEMS FROM AUGUST 17, 2016 MEETING: 1. Sean and Dave will check and ensure that Golden Heart Area minutes are online 2. Need nominations for vacant positions. ANNOUNCEMENTS Next Regional Meeting October 29, 2016 at the Alaska Regional Convention. **REMINDER---People can be pro-temped into ALL positions EXCEPT RD.

Golden Heat Area Regional Report August 17 2016 There are ten groups now active with two meetings a day 6 days a week. Groups are up from nine at our last regional meeting. Welcome to Golden Heart Area our new Barrow Group They are meeting once a week and working on more days. They also working on teleconferencing capabilities. Our Noon and Saturday meetings are continuing to bring colorful members and are having some trouble with member support. We are working on that. There is still talk of a new breakfast meeting on Saturday. We look forward to seeing what HP has in store for us, more will be revealed. All subcommittee positions but Vice Chair are full and actively working to caring the message of recovery. Some subcommittees are working on fund raising in conjunction with the ARCNA thirty Two convention subcommittee to make the Convention in Fairbank the best ever. We currently have two H&I (Hospitals and Intuitions) commitments at both FCC facility, men s only as well as the Ralph Perdue Treatment Center. H&I is continuing to reach out to members for support filling the women s FCC facility. H&I is working on permission to return to North Star Center. PR (Public Relation) is seeking interest from the groups to host a local cell phone help line. Golden Heart Ares will host the ARCNA 32 convention this October 28 thru 30 th 2016. We are now meeting every two weeks to prepare for this event. Preparations are going well. Lots of group participation. This should be a great event.
