Session Objectives By the end of this session students will be able to: 1. sign signs learnt last week 2. sign about your family using pointing appropriately 3. sign questions using appropriate BSL structure and facial expressions 4. identify what affirmation and negation is by signing signs using them both 5. sign animals, colours, clothes and appearance vocabulary 6. describe someone giving description their clothes and physical features 7. complete learner portfolio stating what you are confident with and where you may need additional support

Where in a formal environment it may look a little slower, clearer and body language a little stiff.

Homework Practical In groups of three I would like you to individually sign about the photos you have brought in about your family. Remember to use referencing/pointing and possession. Other group members can ask questions about the person s family if they wish When the person has finished signing about their family they must pass their photo to the person on their right who will then sign it again. Can they get it right?

Affirmation and negation within BSL Within BSL we can change the meaning of one sign by shaking our head When we move our head up and down it is called affirmation When we move it from side to side it is called negation
