Epi-Care wrist sensor EPI-CARE TECHNICAL DATA EPI-CARE BLUETOOTH SIGNAL RANGE: 20m FROM SMARTPHONE 20m FROM CONTROL UNIT Epilepsy Alarms UK are proud to be the exclusive retailer of the remarkable Epi-Care wrist alarm sensor. Epi-Care is an easy to use and lightweight wristband sensor with a discreet and modern design, providing an unobtrusive solution to the needs of people living with epilepsy. It features an advanced 3-dimensional accelerometer, which is able to detect tonic-clonic seizures and connects wirelessly to a smartphone or a control unit that is placed centrally in the home. Users are then able to move around freely, whilst the wristband constantly monitors their movements. The intelligent gyroscope within the wristband is able to differentiate between a seizure and the movement of going about everyday activities. As soon as the Epi-Care detects a seizure it sends an alert signal. How the Epi-Care wrist sensor works cont... 1. SMARTPHONE APP ALERTS With this solution no additional equipment is needed. Simply download the FREE Epi-Care android app which connects to the wristband via Bluetooth within a range of 20m. If the wristband detects a seizure it will send an alert either to our 24/7 Careline call centre, or a friend, relative or guardian. Alerts can be sent by text, email or voice and include the GPS location of the wearer. Smartphone alerts allow the Epi-Care wristband to be worn anywhere inside and outside the home - offering independence and reassurance 24hrs a day no matter where the user goes. (User must have an android compatible smartphone). 2. INTEGRATED HOME PAGER ALERTS With this in-home only solution, if the Epi-Care detects a seizure it will send an alert to a control unit that is placed centrally in the home. The control unit will then relay this alert signal to a friend, relative or carer who is holding the integrated home pager up to 100m away. The lightweight pager provides a history of alerts at the touch of a button. 3. CARELINE ALARM ALERTS With this solution, if the Epi-Care detects a seizure it will send an alert to a control unit that is placed centrally in the home. The control unit will then relay this alert to your Careline alarm that is connected to your home phone line. The alert will then be routed to our sister company TeleCare24 who are the UK s leading Careline alarm provider. TeleCare24 has a team of highly-skilled Careline operators who are on hand 24hrs a day to respond immediately to alerts, provide reassurance and contact either a loved one or the emergency services to provide assistance. 5

Epi-Care FAQ Q. How long does the battery last? The battery lasts 23 hours and takes 1 hour to charge. Q. What types of seizure will the Epi-Care detect? The device will detect tonic-clonic / grand mal seizures via it s 3 dimensional accelerometer. Q. Is the sensor waterproof? The sensor is splashproof, allowing users to wear it while washing their hands for example. However, the device must be removed prior to showering or bathing. Q. What range does the sensor have? The Epi-Care sensor is connected via Bluetooth to your home control unit or smartphone with a range of approximately 20 metres. Q. What happens when I am out of range? The sensor will alert you when you are out of range from the control unit as well as informing you if the battery is low or the signal is interrupted. Q. Are seizures logged? Yes. The control unit logs each incident allowing you to easily keep a seizure journal. Q. Do I have to order the 24/7 Careline alarm with the smartphone option? With the smartphone app you can programme the Epi-Care to alert any loved one or guardian. Alternatively, you can choose for the Epi-Care to be connected to the 24/7 monitoring service through TeleCare24. Q. If I choose the Careline alarm option, can it be programmed to call a relative? No. The Careline alarm is programmed to call the 24/7 monitoring service provided by our sister company TeleCare24. Additional monthly fee applies. Q.
