Celebrate the Eastman Experience

Jamal J. Rossi Joan and Martin Messinger Dean Eastman School of Music Dear Friends, Like you, I am a proud graduate of the Eastman School of Music. This past spring I was deeply honored to be appointed the dean of our school. As such, I am especially excited to welcome you to this year s Eastman Weekend. From October 17 to 19, Eastman alumni of all ages will gather to reminisce and to celebrate many of the essentials that have made Eastman a special place for almost a century: Outstanding performances by ensembles including the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Philharmonia. Great teachers and mentors like the legendary Frederick Fennell, whose 100th birthday we will celebrate. Welcoming guest artists, including the new series Eastman Presents, which kicks off during Eastman Weekend with a performance by the award-winning actor Jason Alexander. We also welcome guests of Meliora Weekend to the Eastman campus. The spirit of collaboration, as we observe the 25th anniversary of Eastman s influential Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music Program. Our great students and their wonderful families, who will be celebrating Family Weekend during this time as well. All these things, and many more that will occur this weekend, are Essentially Eastman. I invite you to celebrate them with me and your fellow alumni during what is sure to be an exciting, joyful, and nostalgic weekend. Jamal J.
