If we give ourselves generously to the present, God will transform us, and in turn he will use us not only to transform our parishes and the Church, but to change the world.

Thank you for being a part of the Giving Team! This marketing guide is designed to empower your team to host a successful Welcome Weekend. It includes a recommended plan for using each of the resources in your Welcome Marketing Kit, Welcome Team Guide, and online from Dynamic Catholic. You ll also find a month-by-month breakdown of how to promote your weekend. If you want to inspire people to attend Welcome but don t know where to start, start with this guide. Learn how to spread the word about Welcome in your parish, engage the power of personal invitation, and help as many people as possible have a life-changing experience with Welcome. As you gear up for your Welcome Weekend, we invite you to start praying for your parishioners. Pray that every man or woman is open to the opportunity to attend Welcome. Everyone at Dynamic Catholic is praying for your parishioners and your team too. And we are delighted to be partnering with you to bring Welcome to your parish. The Dynamic Catholic Team

Invitation Is Powerful If you play golf, you know that 100 percent of the putts that don t get to the hole don t go in. There is no point praying to win the lottery if you don t buy a ticket. In the same way, inviting people to attend the Welcome Weekend is essential. One hundred percent of the people you don t invite won t come. There are many types of invitations: flyers, posters, emails, bulletin and pulpit announcements, endorsement videos, and, most importantly, personal invitation. Every team member is responsible for inviting as many people as possible to attend. Be confident that you are offering people a very powerful, life-changing experience. Pray for the people you invite. Decide right now to be personally responsible for getting one or two people to attend the Welcome Weekend. The Invitation Process If people aren t tired of hearing about Welcome, then they haven t heard about it enough! It takes seven invitations before someone will commit to attending Welcome. Before you begin inviting people to Welcome, read pages 436 437 in the Team Guide for a list of things to consider in the invitation process. 1

Your Resources & How to Use Them What s Included in Your Welcome Marketing Kit & Welcome Online Resources Your parish can order one free dry-erase poster and up to two free Welcome Marketing Kits one for men and one for women. Each Welcome Marketing Kit includes the following resources to help you spread the word about Welcome and inspire people to sign up for the weekend: Flyers (500) Invitation Cards (50) Posters (1 large, 2 small) If you need more materials than those Dynamic Catholic provides, you can purchase them online. You can also find the following free resources online at DynamicCatholic.com/welcome/parish-resources: Bulletin Announcements Dynamic Catholic & Welcome Logos Email Template Promo Video Pulpit Announcements Testimony Video 2

Each resource has a GOAL and a GAME PLAN. The GOAL tells you the intended purpose of each piece. The GAME PLAN suggests how to use each piece to promote Welcome in your parish. If a resource has a customizable element, you ll see examples of how to customize that section for your Welcome Weekend. This guide also notes which resources can be customized online. Invite those you know and those you don t know. Everyone hungers to belong. We all yearn to feel welcome. 3

Marketing Kit Resources Dry-Erase Poster (1 per parish) GOAL: Spread the word about Welcome! Intrigue and inspire potential Welcome participants through the support of your parish s Welcome community. GAME PLAN: Hang the dry-erase poster near your Welcome information table or in a prominent place (e.g. your parish s bulletin board or the entrance to your parish hall) that people pass on a regular basis. Don t forget to keep a few dry-erase markers near your board! CUSTOMIZE: Have Giving Team members and (if applicable) people who have attended Welcome in the past use dry-erase markers to write why they loved Welcome and why they think others should go. Here are some ideas for what to write: Welcome made me a better father. I really don t know where I would be today if a friend had not invited me to Welcome ten years ago. Welcome saved my marriage. I knew something was missing, and I don t know why I ignored that feeling for so long, but Welcome helped me discover exactly what was missing. 4

5

Marketing Kit Resources [cont d.] Flyers (500) GOAL: Spread the word about Welcome and give people all the information about the weekend in one place. After they read the flyer, you want parishioners to think, Yes, Welcome is for me! GAME PLAN: Pass out as many flyers as possible to let your parishioners know about the upcoming Welcome Weekend. Here are some ideas to get you started: Pass out flyers after Mass Stuff flyers inside parish bulletins Share flyers with parish groups and organizations to hand out at their events and meetings Include flyers in new parishioner registration packs Send flyers home with kids in your parish school or religious education classes CUSTOMIZE (online): Fill in your When, Where, and Contact sections based on the examples below and on page 508 of the Team Guide. For the Contact section, include the name, email, and phone number of a Giving Team member for each weekend (Men s and Women s), if possible. For instance: When: April 7 8, 2018; 8 AM Saturday 4 PM Sunday Where: St. Barbara Parish Center Contact: Bob Smith, bsmith@email.com or (123) 456-7890 6

7

Marketing Kit Resources [cont d.] Invitation Cards (50) GOAL: Engage the power of personal invitation. GAME PLAN: This invitation usually comes after people have heard about Welcome from announcements at Mass, posters, bulletin announcements, videos, etc. Each Giving Team member will personally invite 2 3 people. Fill out each card with a personal message and give it to men and women when inviting them to Welcome. Personal invitation is strong and effective! Your parish is full of men and women you can invite to Welcome: New parishioners who don t know a lot of people yet Newlyweds or new parents who have recently baptized a child Fallen-away Catholics People you see at Mass every week but don t know very well People who come to church only at Christmas and Easter Longtime parishioners Parents of religious education students or parents of students enrolled in your parish school Catechists, teachers, and parish staff Friends, coworkers, and family members 8

CUSTOMIZE: Your personal message can include some or all of the following elements: What Welcome is Why you decided to go to Welcome Why you recommend the person you re inviting should go How you benefited from Welcome Messages will vary from person to person and should be tailored to the person you re inviting, if possible. Here are some ideas to get you thinking: Welcome is an incredible experience that helped me discover what was missing in my life. It made me a better father and husband. If you have even the slightest interest in Welcome, contact me. Three years ago, I experienced Welcome and it changed my life for the better. I took a weekend away to recharge and came back completely renewed and better prepared to face life s challenges. Everyone can benefit from Welcome. 9

Marketing Kit Resources [cont d.] I know you are new to [Parish Name]. When I first came to our parish, I attended Welcome and met other Catholic men who have become my lifelong friends. If you re interested in meeting more people at our parish, join me for the upcoming men s Welcome Weekend. Welcome is different. I was surprised to find that it was hosted by women at our parish and they understood my struggles. Now I m helping put on the next Welcome Weekend at our parish so every woman can experience the life-changing power of Welcome. I hope to see you there! 10

Marketing Kit Resources [cont d.] Posters (1 large, 2 small) GOAL: Spread the word about Welcome in your parish GAME PLAN: Hang posters in highly visible areas (doors of the church, bulletin boards, etc.) where lots of people will see them every week CUSTOMIZE (online): Fill in your Who, When, Where, and Contact sections based on the example below. For the Contact section, include the name, email, and phone number of a Giving Team member for each weekend (men s and women s), if possible. For instance: Who: Men OR Women When: April 7 8, 2018; 8 AM Saturday 4 PM Sunday Where: St. Barbara Parish Center Contact: Jane Smith, jsmith@email.com or (123) 456-7890 Hospitality can often be more convincing than a homily. We all like to feel welcome. 12

Online Resources DynamicCatholic.com/welcome/parish-resources Bulletin Announcements (You can also find sample announcements on pages 505 508 in the Team Guide.) GOAL: Spread the word about the Welcome Weekend and let your parishioners know how they can benefit from it. GAME PLAN: Include one of the suggested bulletin announcements in your parish bulletin each weekend leading up to Welcome. CUSTOMIZE (online): Download the file, and you can fill in the Date, Time, Location, Parish Name, and Contact Information for your Welcome Weekend. Include your parish website if it includes more information about Welcome. Dynamic Catholic & Welcome Logos GOAL: Create awareness of the Dynamic Catholic brand and Welcome, and make a connection between Welcome and Dynamic Catholic so people look to Dynamic Catholic for more world-class resources. GAME PLAN: Use for bulletin announcements, social media promotions, letters (like those on pages 501 504 in the Team Guide), table banners, T-shirts, and any supplemental materials your team creates. 14

Online Resources [cont d.] The Welcome Logo The Welcome logo is always either green on a white background or white on a green background. In print, Welcome green should always be Pantone 368 or CMYK 60, 0, 100, 0. However, it can be printed in grayscale when color printing is not available. For digital applications use RGB 115, 190, 70 or HEX #73BE46. The Dynamic Catholic Logo When using the Dynamic Catholic logo to promote Welcome at your parish, please use either the navy or the white version available for download. In print, Dynamic Catholic navy should always be Pantone 2955 or CMYK 100, 78, 36, 28. For digital applications use RGB 0, 55, 100 or HEX #003736. LEGAL: This is a friendly reminder that these graphics are proprietary and protected under intellectual property laws. Please don t: Display these graphics in a way that implies a relationship, affiliation, or endorsement by Welcome or Dynamic Catholic with any product, service, or business. Use these graphics as part of your own product, business, or service name. Alter these graphics in any way, or combine them with any other graphics, without written consent from Dynamic Catholic. 17

Online Resources [cont d.] Email Template GOAL: Let your parishioners know what Welcome is, when it is, and how it will benefit them. GAME PLAN: Go to the Welcome parish resources page online and fill out your name and email. We ll send you a pre-designed email with space for you to fill in your Welcome Weekend information. Once you receive the email, customize and forward it to your parishioners to announce Welcome and generate interest in the weekend. As the weekend gets closer, resend the email to remind people to sign up. CUSTOMIZE: Fill in the Date, Time, Location, and Contact Information for your Welcome Weekend. Then send the email to your parishioners. When you send the reminder email, you can resend the same email, just use a different subject line. Here are some suggestions: It s Not Too Late to Sign Up for Our Women s Welcome Weekend! Spots Still Open for Our Men s Welcome Weekend Sign Up Now! 18

Promo Video GOAL: Generate interest in Welcome by sharing with your parishioners what Welcome is and how they can benefit from it. Make the connection between Welcome, Dynamic Catholic, and Matthew Kelly. GAME PLAN: Post the video on your parish website or social media platforms. Show the video at Mass, usually along with a pulpit announcement or personal testimony. Pulpit Announcements (You can also find sample announcements on pages 509 512 in the Team Guide.) GOAL: Spread the word about Welcome with a relevant, personal message from a parishioner or your parish priest. Inspire potential Welcome participants to want to learn more about the Welcome Weekend. GAME PLAN: Have your pastor and Giving Team members speak at Mass about Welcome in the weeks leading up to your weekend. At the first announcement, introduce the Giving Team. Have Giving Team members waiting at the doors of the church or at a Welcome table in the back after Mass to answer questions, hand out flyers, and provide more information about Welcome. 19

Online Resources [cont d.] Testimony Video GOAL: Inspire parishioners to see how they can benefit from Welcome by showing how powerful it s been for people just like them. GAME PLAN: Post the video on your website or social media platforms. Show the video at Mass several weeks after you have shown the Promo Video. Throw your whole self into this process, surrender completely to God, and allow him to use you in ordinary but powerful ways. 20

21

Recommended Plan There are three steps to inviting people to Welcome: 1. Spread the word. Help others learn what Welcome is, when it is, and how they can benefit from it. 2. Invite parishioners to Welcome. Engage the power of personal invitation. Some people are just waiting for an invitation. Be the one who invites them. 3. Encourage sign-ups. Follow up with everyone you ve invited. Remind potential participants to sign up for your weekend so that as many people as possible can benefit from the life-changing experience of Welcome. People should have an understanding of what Welcome is and how it will benefit them before they are invited to sign up. That s why the following suggested timeline is important to keep in mind throughout the invitation process. God has equipped you with exactly the talents and abilities you need to carry out the mission he has in mind for you. 22

Suggested Timeline This timeline is a general outline. You can personalize it for your weekend by adding specific dates for each step in the invitation process and assigning responsibilities to each member of your Giving Team. Here are some steps you can take to make sure the invitation process goes off without a hitch: Discern which member of the Giving Team will give a personal testimony at Mass Make sure your pastor is on board with your Welcome marketing plan Coordinate with your parish bulletin and website administrators Make sure Giving Team members are available in the back of the church to answer questions after every pulpit announcement Make yourself available to God and he will use you in powerful ways. 23

3 Months Before Your Welcome Weekend Spread the Word GAME PLAN: Hang posters Post dry-erase poster and start writing your words of encouragement on it Pass out flyers after Sunday Masses and at parish organization events Decide with your team which weekends you ll hand out flyers after Mass. You may decide to do it every weekend, every other weekend, or just after a pulpit announcement about Welcome. Contact parish groups to ask if they are willing to hand out flyers at their meetings or events (e.g. Bible studies, Knights of Columbus meetings, school events, etc.). Pulpit announcement: Priest announcement and introduction of your Giving Team. (For sample pulpit announcements, see pages 509 512 of the Team Guide). Decide with your parish which weekend your team or priest will give a pulpit announcement this month. Bulletin announcement: Starting running an announcement in your bulletin every weekend leading up to your Welcome Weekend. Announcement email Using the provided email template, send an announcement email to your parishioners and personal contacts. Consider 24

reaching out to the Knights of Columbus, women s groups, men s groups, Bible studies, parish councils, parents of students in religious education classes or enrolled at your parish school, and community groups. This email should go out around the time of the first pulpit announcement. Save this email in your inbox so that you can easily send a reminder email. Web: Post about your weekend on your parish website and social media platforms (if applicable). Facebook post example: Does it ever feel like something is missing in your life? Would you like to gain clarity about who you are, what you are here for, what matters most, and what matters least? Join us on [DATES] from [TIMES], at [LOCATION] for the next [men s/women s] Welcome Weekend! To sign up, contact [CONTACT INFO]. Twitter example: Ever feel like something is missing in your life? Attend the next men s Welcome Weekend! Learn more at [PARISH WEBSITE]. Instagram post idea: Post the Welcome logo with the following caption: Ever feel like something is missing in your life? Gain clarity about who you are, what you are here for, what matters most, and what matters least at our upcoming women s Welcome Weekend. To sign up, contact [CONTACT INFO]. 25

2 Months Before Your Welcome Weekend Invite! Invite! Invite! GAME PLAN: Pass out flyers. Decide with your team which weekends you ll hand out flyers after Mass. Pass out invitation cards. Decide on a few people you can personally invite, and give them invitation cards this month. Show testimony video at Mass and church organization events Pulpit announcement: Past participant testimony. (Have a Giving Team member or someone who has attended Welcome in the past give a short, personal testimony about Welcome.) Decide with your parish which weekend your team or priest will give a pulpit announcement this month. Bulletin announcement: Continue running an announcement in your bulletin every weekend leading up to Welcome. One weekend, run a past participant testimony. (Have a Giving Team member or someone who has attended Welcome in the past write a short, personal testimony about Welcome. You can use pulpit announcement options 1 and 2 on pages 509 510 of the Team Guide as templates.) Web: Post testimony video 26

You said yes. Each day, renew that yes. Your yes could change a person s life forever. Need more ideas? Check out page 440 in the Team Guide for 21 great ideas for inviting people to attend Welcome. 27

1 Month Before Your Welcome Weekend Encourage Sign-Ups GAME PLAN: Pass out flyers. Decide with your team which weekends you ll hand out flyers after Mass. Follow up with everyone who received an invitation card. For example: Talk to them if you see them at Mass or parish events Call, text, or email them if you have their phone number or email Show endorsement video at Mass and church organization events Pulpit announcement: Priest endorsement. Decide with your parish priest which weekend he will give a pulpit announcement this month. Have him announce the upcoming Welcome Weekend, maybe including something about how he has seen the positive effects of Welcome in your parish. Bulletin announcement: Continue running an announcement in your bulletin every weekend leading up to Welcome. Reminder email: This email should go out a few weeks before your Welcome Weekend to remind people to sign up. To send a reminder email, follow these simple steps: Open your inbox and search for the original announcement email from info@dynamiccatholic.com. 28

Open the email and click Forward. Delete the subject line and replace it with one of the reminder subject lines from page 20 of this guide. Forward the email to your parishioners, personal contacts, and parish and community groups. If you can t find the original email in your inbox, no problem! Fill out the form on the Welcome parish resources web page and you ll receive another email. Web: Post endorsement video 29
