Working Together for a better SANDY SPRINGS Generations of giving back to our community www.sandyspringssociety.org

The Sandy Springs Society was founded in 1988. Today, we are the largest all volunteer 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization in the City of Sandy Springs. In 2018, we awarded $218,500 to 19 charities through our competitive grants process. Over our 30 year history, The Society has raised and donated more than $3.75 million to organizations serving Sandy Springs. We are passionate about our community and dedicated to serving the diverse needs of its residents. We raise money through corporate, foundation and individual sponsorships and through our two annual fundraisers Tossed Out Treasures which includes the Tossed Out Treasures Preview Party and The Elegant Elf Marketplace which includes The Evening of Elegance. With these funds, we are able to fulfill our mission to promote the arts, heritage, education, the environment and social services in Sandy Springs. Notable contributions from the Sandy Springs Society to the community include: Funds to help purchase 11 parks within the City limits through our 2005 Town Turtles public art project. Continuing support of Heritage Sandy Springs including the construction of the Entertainment Lawn at Heritage Green, the venue for numerous community events including Concerts by the Springs. Funding for the design of improvements to the original sandy springs, located in Heritage Green. Who We Are Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn Jan Collins Sandy Springs Society Founder, Past President, Community Volunteer Thirty years ago, our mission was to gather a group of dynamic and creative women dedicated to improving the quality of life for all of Sandy Springs! Today, our mission remains the same, except now, rather than 100 passionate women, we are over 300 strong aiding and supporting the needs of the City of Sandy Springs! Sue Winner Sandy Springs Society President (2018-2019) It is such a privilege to work with the talented ladies of the Sandy Springs Society and to be a part of the wonderful work that they do enriching the non-profit world in Sandy Springs. I am so proud of this community and all that it provides. Melissa Patterson Independent Contractor to the Retail Trade, Community Volunteer The Sandy Springs Society has allowed me to connect to people, grow in different roles and give back to my community. As Vendor Chair of the Elegant Elf Marketplace, seeing this fundraiser expand is exciting and rewarding because I know other Sandy Springs organizations are benefitting from our grants. Making an Impact in Our Community Each year our Philanthropy Committee reviews dozens of requests from nonprofit organizations that serve the Sandy Springs community. Grants are awarded to 501(c)(3) tax exempt organizations. Since our founding, we have provided more than $3.75 million to local service organizations. Nancy Juneau Wife, Mother, Business Owner and Philanthropist Being involved in the Philanthropy Committee has been an extremely rewarding experience. Learning about many of the wonderful and hardworking smaller nonprofits in Sandy Springs and raising money through volunteering is very fulfilling to me. 2018 Sandy Springs Society Grants Am Yisreal Chai Community Assistance Center Creating Connected Communities Every Woman Works Friends of Benson Senior Center Heritage Sandy Springs Horizons Atlanta at Holy Innocents Los Ninos Primeros Mary Hall Freedom House Mr. Tom s Heart Prevent Blindness Georgia Riverwood High School Foundation Sandy Springs Education Force Sandy Springs Mission Sandy Springs Tennis Association Second Helpings Atlanta Senior Services of North Fulton Spalding Drive Charter School Foundation Spartan Nation Foundation (North Springs High School)

G Fundraising Events The Elegant Elf Marketplace & The Evening of Elegance NEW VENUE AND DATES! Civic and Cultural Center at City Springs The Evening of Elegance Thursday, Nov. 8, 6-10 pm The Elegant Elf Marketplace Friday & Saturday, Nov. 9 & 10, 9 am-5 pm The Marketplace is now in its 8th year and has become an annual community favorite, featuring carefully selected vendors who offer hand-crafted items, exquisite artistic creations and gourmet delights all perfect for gift-giving. The Evening of Elegance is a festive affair held the Thursday evening before The Marketplace event. This year it will be open to the community, and because it is the 30th anniversary of The Sandy Springs Society, we will recognize our grant recipients and sponsors. The evening will include a seated dinner, silent and live auctions, entertainment and music. Tossed Out Treasures As our longest-running fundraiser--28 years-- this upscale resale event sells gently used and new items donated by our members and the community. We focus on reselling, reusing and repurposing clothing, accessories, kitchen items, furniture, linens, decor and more, all at bargain prices. Unsold merchandise is then donated to local charities. Held in early spring and free to the public, the event begins with a Preview Party the night before the sale. Tossed Out Treasures attracts approximately 3,500 shoppers.
