ATRASCNA: Minutes for February 2009 The meeting started at @ 12:01 p.m. on February 1, 2009 with the Serenity Prayer led by Andy S., chairperson. The Twelve Traditions were read by Roman, the Twelve Concepts were read by Tommy and Andy read the service prayer. Roll Call was then taken by Andy. The reading of minutes and approval was skipped at this point by accident. Later the Chair tried to blame it on the fact he did not have his agenda sheet and I think some people believed him, I will reserve my personal input on this matter. A discussion on suspending Literature sales @ this ASC began at the end of the Treasurer s report. A motion was made to suspend sales until next month when we hope to have a representative from the Literature committee present. Treasury department did not want to be held responsible for holding the literature orders for a month. A sheet giving groups an alternative for literature this month was passed around (Show Me Regions service office phone #) for groups that may be in a bind for literature. A show of hands in support of this was unanimous so any Literature sales $ s that had been given to the Treasury Department were returned to the respective groups. You re always welcome here. You Are a Miracle (??/????): Evansville, IN. Absent - No report The minutes from the previous month were read by Andy S. at the end of the group reports. But principle dictates that we do this even if it is out of order. The previous months minutes were accepted after the following corrections were made. It was noted that in two places in new business it was stated that J.T. seconded a motion. It was determined that this was either J.D. or T.J. It was also corrected that the first item of new business was incorrect. The motion to donate a basic text was to the P.I. subcommittee for their use, not directly to Thompkins Middle School. Also it was noted that after the resignation of the Literature Chair it should have noted that it was determined that the Literature Assistant is to fill in the chairs absence as needed as a matter of policy and that in the election and nomination portion of the minutes it should have noted that the Literature Chair position was still open for nominations, nominations would be taken from the floor the day the position comes open and from the groups the following month and then close. It was also noted that until a change occurs with the Literature Chair position even though the current Literature Assistant has expressed willingness to serve the Literature Assistant position is not yet open for nominations. Motion made by Tommy to accept minutes as corrected and seconded by James. A show of hands gave unanimous approval to the minutes as corrected, at least by all who chose to vote. No one voted nay or abstained. Old Business It was announced that the Regional motion previously noted in pending business regarding the No Addict turned away packet had passed and is now regional policy. Motion made to Coordinate to a single meeting list as now used by the P.I. subcommittee listing meeting by Locations first rather than day with a place added for phone numbers by Nikki B. It was seconded by several GSRs at the same time so I am not sure which one to write down. All present were in favor with no abstentions. As for the Turkey Day event for 2009 the We Do Recover group as volunteered to take on this event. They asked for any interested groups to get involved and help. It looks as if two or three groups jumped in and agreed to help already. Sounds like a good start Pending Business Regional motion made by this area concerning the auditing of the Convention Treasury when returned to the region was seconded at the region and then a friendly motion was made and agreed to by our representative there. Regional minutes have not yet been distributed but we hope to have them at the next area and will have the exact wording of the motion as submitted for vote there then. See the RCMA s report for more information. It was
noted that at the January regional meeting it was determined that this motion will not be voted on until the May meeting of our regional service committee. VOTES: None at this time. Elections and Nominations Elections: Mandy A. for Literature Chair Resume was attached to the January minutes. Nominations: We need nominations for the following ASC positions. Secretary Assistant Treasure Assistant RCMA Open Positions: Secretary Assistant Treasurer Assistant PLEASE bring nominations for any of the open regional positions listed below. These positions have been vacant for over a year. A brief description is being provided to help identify responsibilities of these vacant positions. NOTE: REGIONAL positions meet BI-MONTHLY (every other month in Owensboro, KY). Regional Positions Open: RD, H&I, PI, P&P, Lit Chair, Vice Chair Regional Votes: None. New Business We Do Recover group donated their old coffee pot to the ASC. A volunteer to clean out the coffee pot today was requested. Derek agreed to perform this function. A discussion was held as to what to do about the Literature not being at the ASC. It was asked how long do we wait before we get overly concerned. It was noted that we should be concerned about the addict and hope all is well with them, things like this always seem to work out over time. Several expressed willingness to go get the Literature but it was determined that we should give those who volunteered last month a chance to complete this task. Friends of 318 paid $30 for monthly meetings held @ REBOS. Closed in a circle of hugs at @ 1:50pm NEXT ASC MEETING March 1 st @ NOON. In Loving Service, Kenny M.
