BASCD The British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (BASCD), founded in 1973, is an alliance of individuals with an interest in population oral health, working together to: Provide a set of principles for the improvement of oral health and the development of oral health care and promote their dissemination Influence policy at international, national, regional and local level Support members widely with training, development, partnership working, networking and advocacy Hold, develop and communicate a sound body of knowledge and evidence to facilitate their work. Conference Aim: (BASCD AGM, 2007) To support members working in a changing environment to work collaboratively for health informed by evidence. Educational Objectives: 1. To reflect on key events and reform considering the implications for population health 2. To examine the evidence and experience of working with key stakeholders in support of health through community initiatives 3. To update members on the current scientific understanding of oral diseases and consider the implications for public health practice 4. To consider contemporary evidence on oral health care provision for adults, children, and special care dentistry.
