CLIENT BACKGROUND St. Rita Schl fr the Deaf (http://www.srsdeaf.rg) is a Cathlic, c-educatinal, pre K-12 grade, in additin t a Career 2 prgram serving students up t age 22. Fr 103 years we have served the deaf and hard f hearing cmmunity, but in recent years we have expanded ur services t include children with cmmunicatin needs including thse with Apraxia and thse n the Autism Spectrum. Our Cre Values embdy ur emphasis n Cmmunicatin, Cathlic, Family, Educatin and Innvatin in a safe, enriching envirnment. The Archdicese f Cincinnati requires that this psitin be held by an individual wh is a Practicing Cathlic. OVERVIEW The President prvides leadership t achieve the fullest attainment f the missin f St. Rita Schl fr the Deaf (SRSD). The President is accuntable t the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin but will perate with apprpriate autnmy and respnsibility fr verall management f the schl and the faith cmmunity, plicy develpment, finances and facilities, institutinal advancement, external cmmunicatins, public relatins, recruitment, and enrllment. The President serves as an administrative fficer f the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin and serves n the bard as ex-ffici member withut vte. The President is the verall leader and facilitatr f the schl and bears ultimate respnsibility fr the integratin f faith and culture, cnsistent with the missin and cre values f St. Rita Schl fr the Deaf. 2
Primary Duties & Respnsibilities POSITION: President DEPARTMENT: Administratin REPORTS TO: Archbishp f Cincinnati Cllabrates with the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin and the Cincinnati Archdicesan Cathlic Schls Office GENERAL AUTHORITY The President is given respnsibility and authrity by the Archdicese and the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin fr fulfillment f its gals and plicies. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: The President will demnstrate a strng cmmitment t the educatinal and religius values f the Cathlic Church and must be a practicing Cathlic wh demnstrates a cllabrative leadership style, superir cmmunicatin skills, strng interpersnal skills and pssesses the apprpriate educatin and experience t fulfill the requirements f the psitin. Strng financial and general management skills desired. This will include an ability t develp a wrking knwledge f American Sign Language (ASL), understanding f the deaf culture, and understanding the curriculum relative t early childhd thrugh 12 th Grade. It is critical that the President has the ability t frm, mtivate, and manage an internal administrative team and build relatinships thrughut the St. Rita cmmunity. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: A strng and vibrant faith cmmunity amng students, faculty, staff, parents and alumnae centered n the St. Rita missin and cre values. Cmprehensive strategic planning t achieve gals f St. Rita Schl fr the Deaf. Successful fundraising prviding resurces as required t meet the perating and capital needs, bth lng and shrt-term in cnjunctin with the Develpment Department. Fiscal respnsibility fr the schl, including apprpriate financial prcedures and cntrls. Cmmunicatins prgrams; publicatins and activities that supprt a well-infrmed cnstituency and psitive perceptin amng all audiences f SRSD s gals and activities. Assure that all faculty and staff are evaluated n an annual basis with perfrmance gals as apprpriate. Develpment and implementatin f plicy as directed by the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin t gvern peratins f St. Rita Schl fr the Deaf. Annually evaluate all persnnel directly reprting t the President. 3
Primary Duties & Respnsibilities OVERALL POLICY: Hire and supervise the Vice-President Meet regularly with St. Rita s Leadership Team cmprised f: Vice-President Principals Directr Finance & Operatins Directr f Develpment Present plicy issues and recmmendatins t the Bard f Limited Jurisdictin Mnitr the administratin f plicy in all areas Annually, with the leadership team, review the emplyee and student/parent handbks Bard f Limited Jurisdictin Serves n the Limited Bard f Jurisdictin as an ex-ffici member withut vte and serves as an ex ffici member n all Bard cmmittees. Cmmittees include: Strategic Planning; Plant and Grunds ; Develpment/Cmmunicatins/Public Relatins; Finance; Other Upn recmmendatin f the department supervisr, apprve hiring and dismissing f faculty, academic staff, and ther staff members Serve as a liaisn with legal cunsel 4
