FITNESS AND SPORTS LEVEL I (FS1) This training will be the entry level training for all Fitness and Sports personnel. This training package provides an introduction to DFit programs, group physical fitness training and the FORCE Evaluation. All training content will be online and each performance check will be evaluated by the local Fitness Coordinator as part of an on-the-job training package to coincide with a typical probationary period. The training will cover the following performance objectives to the level of continuous and non-continuous supervision as defined in the Occupational Specification (OS FS1 3 June, 2014): - Prepare for physical fitness activities - Conduct a physical fitness session - Conduct the FORCE Evaluation The pre-requisite is to hold any Fitness and Sports position. To be qualified you must successfully complete (see course descriptions) : A) the annual physical fitness requirement as indicated in the job description; B) PSP Fitness Personnel Integration package; C) Plan Physical Fitness Activities; D) Conduct Group Physical Fitness; and E) FORCE Evaluator qualification.

FITNESS AND SPORTS LEVEL II (FS2) This training will be for Fitness and Sports personnel that provide physical fitness training, physical fitness evaluations and physical training programming to Canadian Armed Forces units and personnel. The training will be a blended learning training program that will combine face-to-face sessions, e-learning activities and on-the-job training. A face-to-face session will held over 10 days at the PSP Training Centre approximately every 6 months. The on-the-job training will be conducted after the face-to-face session. The training will cover the following performance objectives to the level of noncontinuous supervision as defined in the Occupational Specification (OS FS2 3 June 2014): - Prepare for occupational physical fitness activities - Conduct a trade-specific physical fitness session - Instruct physical fitness theory / knowledge session - Conduct the FORCE Evaluator qualification (FORCE Instructor qualification) - Conduct specialty trade selection and maintenance physical fitness evaluations - Create a basic periodized physical fitness program The following are the pre-requisites : A) the annual physical fitness requirement as indicated in the job description; B) successful completion of FS1; and C) qualify for CSEP-CPT. To be qualified you must successfully complete (see course/module descriptions): A) at minimum CSEP-CPT designation; B) Analyze Occupational Physical Fitness Activities; C) Conduct Occupational Physical Fitness; D) FORCE Instructor qualification; E) Speciality Trade Physical Fitness Evaluations; F) Instructional Technique course; and G) Basic Program Design and Periodization.

FITNESS AND SPORTS LEVEL III (FS3) This speciality will be for a select group of experienced and motivated F&S personnel who will provide operational and performance-related physical fitness training and physical training programming to CAF units and personnel. The training will be a face-to-face session, held over 8 days at the PSP Training Centre with e-learning activities prior to attending the session. Candidates for this speciality must arrive for the course in excellent physical condition. The recommended level of physical condition is defined as the following: - 5 chin-ups; - Level 7.0 on the 20 MSR; - Squat 1.5 times their body weight; - 5 Clap push-ups; - Capable to complete an obstacle course; and - Capable to execute load-bearing physical fitness activities. The speciality will cover the following performance objectives to the level of independence as defined in the Speciality Specification (SS FS3 3 June 2014): - Deliver Tactical Athlete conditioning physical fitness theory - Deliver Tactical Athlete conditioning lifting techniques - Design high performance physical fitness programs The following are the pre-requisites : A) qualified minimum CSEP-CPT; B) successfully complete FS2; C) be employed with PSP Fitness and Sports for a minimum of one year; D) climb a 4m rope; E) scale a 6-ft wall unassisted; D) be recommended by their Fitness and Sports Director based on merit E) achieve independence level of performance on the conduct of physical training activities; and F) achieve independence level of performance on the conduct of FORCE Evaluation. To be qualified you must successfully complete (see course/module descriptions) : A) Tactical Athlete Fitness Theory; B) Tactical Athlete Technical Training; and C) Designing High Performance Physical Fitness. To maintain this qualification, you must conduct or assist in a Tactical Athlete User Clinic once per fiscal year.

FITNESS AND SPORTS LEVEL IV (FS4) This speciality will be for a select few of experienced and highly motivated Fitness and Sports personnel that are willing to develop basic military assistants within the CAF Physical Fitness Program. This training package will be conducted in an unconventional format with mentorship as a primary learning method. Candidates will be required to instruct, with incremental responsibility, as an assistant three Basic Fitness Training Assistant courses. Candidates for this speciality must arrive for the course in excellent physical condition. The required level of physical condition is defined as the following: - meet the FORCE Evaluation minimum standard; - Capable to climb a 4m rope; and - Capable to complete an obstacle course. The speciality will cover the following performance objectives assuming candidates demonstrate a high level performance capability as defined in the Speciality Specification (SS FS4 4 June, 2013): - Demonstrate an expertise in instructing strength and conditioning exercises - Demonstrate extensive experience in conducting classroom theory - Critique the conduct of physical fitness activities The following are the pre-requisites to attempt the training: A) be a volunteer; B) qualified minimum CSEP-CPT; C) successfully complete FS3; D) be employed with F&S for a minimum of two years; E) be recommended by their Fitness and Sports Director and the Directing Staff based on merit; F) achieve expert level of performance on the conduct of physical training activities; and G) achieve expert level of performance on the conduct of FORCE Evaluation; and H) pass the BFTA written test with a 90%. NOTE: Candidates will be selected based off BFTA demand and the number of candidates selected will be indicated in the Warning Order. To be qualified you must successfully complete: A) the observation phase; B) the participation phase; and C) the supervision phase.

RECONDITIONING LEVEL I (RC1) This speciality will be for F&S personnel that are interested in assisting with the Reconditioning Program. The training is an e-learning program that involves synchronous and asynchronous learning activities to include: webinars, online and offline discussions, written assignments and on-the-job training. The training will cover the following activities to the performance level of noncontinuous supervision as defined in part of the Speciality Specification (SS RC1 3 June 2014): - Implement reconditioning programs; and - Evaluate reconditioning programs. The following are the pre-requisites to attempt the training: A) qualified CSEP-CEP; B) successful completion of FS2; C) hold a Reconditioning Specialist position; OR be employed with F&S for a minimum of one year; D) be recommended by their Fitness and Sports Director based on merit unless they are employed in a Reconditioning Specialist; E) achieve independence level of performance on the conduct of physical training activities; and F) achieve independence level of performance on the conduct of FORCE Evaluation. To be trained you must successfully complete: A) Reconditioning Model Action Plan course; and B) Motivation and Confidence course;

RECONDITIONING LEVEL II (RC2) This training will be for all employed as Reconditioning Specialists, who work under the scope of the PSP Reconditioning Program. The material within the training package will be independent and a co-requisite of RC1. The training is an online training program that involves synchronous and asynchronous learning activities to include: webinars, online and offline discussions, written assignments and peer evaluations. The training will cover the following courses / activities to the performance or educational level of independence as defined in part of the Occupational Specification (OS RC2 3 June 2014): - Apply the reconditioning scope of practice - Analyze training requirement and procurement - Cooperate with health promotion and health care providers with education promotion The candidate must hold one of the following Reconditioning Specialist positions to attempt the training: A) Physical Exercise Specialist; B) Regional Adapted Fitness Specialist; C) Strength and Conditioning Specialist; or D) Fitness, Sports and Physical Exercise Coordinator. The candidate must eligible for the CSEP-CEP designation. To be qualified you must successfully complete: A) Complete RC1; B) Reconditioning Scope of Practice course; and C) Training Requirement and Procurement 1 course.

RECONDITIONING LEVEL III (RC3) This training will be for those Reconditioning specialists employed to work with severe or very severe ill and injured conditions under the scope of the PSP Reconditioning Program as a Regional Adapted Fitness Specialist. The material within the training package will be a continuation of the RC2 training. The training is an e-learning program that involves synchronous and asynchronous learning activities to include: webinars, online and offline discussions, written assignments, peer evaluations and mentoring activities. The training will cover the following performance objectives to the level of extensive job experience as defined in the Occupational Specification (OS RC3 TBD): Performance objectives TBD The following are the pre-requisites to attempt the training: A) Hold a CSEP-CEP designation; and B) Hold a Regional Adapted Fitness Specialist position To be qualified you must successfully complete: TBD

FITNESS COORDINATOR LEVEL I (FC1) This speciality will be for a select group of Fitness and Sports personnel that are interested in supervising PSP Fitness and Sports personnel. The training is a blended training and education program that will combine a face-to-face session, e-learning training activities and supervised on-the-job training. The first portion will involve 40-50 hours of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities to include: webinars, online and offline discussions, written assignments and peer evaluations. The second portion will be the face-to-face session, held over 9 days at the PSP Training Centre once a year. Finally, the candidate will complete a series of tasks that will be part of on-the-job activities and evaluations. The training will cover the following courses / activities to the performance or educational level of non-continuous supervision or independence as defined in part of the Occupational Specification (OS FC 3 June 2014): - Act as a leader to influence the DFit values of their employees; - Critique physical fitness sessions and evaluations - Analyze base / wing / unit physical fitness programs; The following are the pre-requisites to attempt the training: A) qualified CSEP-CPT; B) successful completion of FS2; C) hold a Fitness Coordinator or equivalent position; OR be employed with PSP Fitness and Sports for a minimum of two years; D) be recommended by their Fitness and Sports Director based on merit; E) achieve extensive experience level of performance on the conduct of physical training activities; and F) achieve extensive experience level of performance on the conduct of physical fitness evaluations. To be trained you must successfully complete (see course/module descriptions): A) Motivation and Confidence course; B) Leadership to Influence DFit Values and Guiding Principles course; C) Unit Level Physical Fitness Periodization module; D) Setting Work Schedule course; E) Conducting In-service Training module; and F) Monitoring Physical Fitness Sessions and Evaluations module; and G) Analyze Physical Fitness Programs module. To maintain a trained status, you must: A) monitor a physical fitness session once per year; B) conduct an in-service training session once per year; and C) monitor the FORCE Evaluation once per year.

PSP FITNESS COORDINATOR LEVEL II (FC2) This training will be for those who hold a Fitness Coordinator or equivalent position. The material within the training package will be independent and a co-requisite of FC1. The e- Learning program involves asynchronous learning activities to include, peer evaluations and on -the-job training. This is a self-registration package designed to be completed during the probationary period. The training will cover the following courses / activities to the performance or educational level of non-continuous supervision or independence as defined in part of the Occupational Specification (OS FC 3 June 2014): - Differentiate the physical fitness scope of practice - Facilitate a meeting - Manage personnel - Use an approved budget - Coordinate an event - Draft policies and procedures To be qualified FitCoord you must successfully complete: A) successfully complete FC1; B) Physical Fitness Scope of Practice course; C) Facilitating Meetings and Briefings course; D) Budget 1 course; E) Training Requirement and Procurement 2 course; and F) Event Planning 1 course.

COURSES / MODULES Plan Physical Fitness Activities (DL- 4 hours) This performance objective teaches general guidelines and instructional methodologies to create a lesson plan in a CAF environment. The focus will be on training the various fitness components while applying applicable principles in a creative and effective manner that suits the physical fitness needs of the CAF. The student will be evaluated on their ability to prepare for a physical training session using www.dfit.ca Build a Program. Conduct Group Physical Fitness (DL- 7 hours + 3 hours OJT) This performance objective teaches students how to conduct physical training in a CAF environment. The focus will be on group physical training methods to suit the general needs of the CAF. The physical training methods will be to develop activities such as spinning, step aerobics, non-specific circuit training, core training, etc. The student will be evaluated on their ability to conduct a group physical training session. FORCE Evaluator (Blended- 10 hours + 4 hours OJT) This qualification is tailored to teach students how to evaluate within the protocols of the FORCE Evaluation. Students will be expected to demonstrate the conduct of the protocols as defined in the Ops manual without compromise. All students must be capable of meeting the minimum standards of the FORCE evaluation and demonstrate competency in the conduct of the evaluation. Analyze Task-based Physical Fitness Activities (F2F- 5 hours) Students will be required to tailor a physical fitness session towards an assigned CAF trade. They will be required to identify exercises that suit the movement patterns during regular or emergency trade-related tasks then develop a physical fitness lesson plan that supports the physical demands of the task(s). Conduct Task-based Physical Fitness (F2F- 15 hours) Students will be required conduct a 40-min physical fitness session for an assigned CAF trade. They will be evaluated on their exercise selection, coaching, correction and time management skills during the physical fitness session. FORCE Instructor (F2F- 18 hours + 10 hours OJT) Students will develop their skills to instruct the conduct of FORCE Evaluation and provide refresher training to PSP and CAF Evaluators. Students must demonstrate a high competency to complete the protocol while providing insight into the art of physical fitness evaluations. The students will also be required to demonstrate independent navigation of www.dfit.ca for exercise prescription. Each student will be required to conduct one session with minimal supervision after the course.

COURSES / MODULES Specialty Trade Physical Fitness Evaluations (F2F 24 hours + 2 hours OJT) This performance objective will cover the physical fitness selection and maintenance demands of SAR-Tech, CANSOFCOM, Para, CPP, BMSS, etc. Students shall demonstrate competency in the conduct and the delivery the protocols as determined by their respective Ops manual. Each student will be required to complete the following evaluations twice under direct supervision after the course: JTF2, SAR-Tech, FF Pre-Entry Evaluation and BMSS. Instructional Techniques (DL- 30 hours) This course is designed to provide a student the basic tools to deliver knowledge and skill-related classroom sessions while creating a positive learning environment using adult learning principles. The course, Instructional Techniques (IT), is available on the DLN as a selfenrolment option. The student will be evaluated on their conduct of a knowledge and skill classroom session by the DS as part of the FORCE Instructor qualification. Basic Program Design and Periodization (F2F- 5 hours) This course provides a perspective on using periodized physical fitness programs for CAF personnel. A student will be required to demonstrate competency in using macro-, mesoand micro-cycles which suits the needs of an assigned CAF trade within a training cycle. Each student will be required to complete a 1-year linear macro-cycle training program. Tactical Athlete Fitness Theory (Blended- 12 hours) This course provides insight into high performance physical training theory and how to manipulate physical fitness components and principles to suit the specific needs of CAF tasks. The students will be challenged to provide an innovative approach to physical training while employing strength and conditioning tactics to enhance a CAF personnel s performance, preventing injuries and over-training. This topic can be used for the IT performance check. Tactical Athlete Technical Training (F2F- 30 hours + 21 hours OJT) Student will be required to demonstrate competency in the conduct and delivery of various complex functional movements to include Olympic-lifts, plyometrics, speed and agility training and using non-conventional equipment. They will learn the art of advanced coaching, correction and employing remedial actions to ratify the errors in a movement pattern. This topic can be used for the IT performance check. Designing High Performance Physical Fitness (F2F- 6 hours + 6 hours OJT) Students will be challenged to prioritize CAF trade related tasks while assigning appropriate training periods to compliment the physical demands and develop overall work capacity of the CAF member. Students will develop macro-, meso and micro-cycles within a typical deployment cycle that addresses the specific performance needs, i.e. plyometrics, speed, agility and muscular and aerobic conditioning, for a CAF individual trade while employing strength and conditioning guidelines.

COURSES / MODULES Reconditioning Model Action Plan (DL- 21 hours) This course provides the model that shall be employed by all Reconditioning Specialists. The students will learn their role in cooperation with CAF Health Services. They must demonstrate competency in conducting client interviews, developing adapted exercise prescriptions and analyzing prescriptions to suit the needs of a CAF personnel participating in the Reconditioning Program. Students will complete one written assignment and the Reconditioning Performance check. Students enrolled in the stream as PD will complete an on-the-job training package. Motivation and Confidence (DL- 4 hours) This course provides basic tools to adapt your approach on physical training and interactions with CAF personnel to suit their individual learning style and preferences. The objective is to instil an ongoing adherence to a physical fitness program where the CAF personnel develops a professional confidence in the service provided by the F&S Staff. Students will participate in online discussions and complete one written assignment. Reconditioning Scope of Practice (DL- 8 hours) This course outlines the legal and professional parameters of the Reconditioning Program. The student must provide evidence of comprehension on the Reconditioning Standard Operating Procedures including their role in Fitness and Sports while providing a service for CAF Health Services. Students will participate in online discussions and complete two written assignments. Training Requirement and Procurement 1 (DL- 4 hours) Students will be provided a familiarization on identifying their Reconditioning Program needs and procuring equipment. They are provided basic concepts on facility analysis and providing justification for resources. Students will be asked to complete two written assignments. Training Requirement and Procurement 2 (DL 2 hours) Students will be provided a familiarization on identifying their physical training requirements for the base/wing and procuring equipment. Students will be asked to complete one written assignment.

COURSES / MODULES Leadership to Influence DFit Values and Guiding Principles (Blended- 54 hours) This course provides insight into becoming a leader in F&S. Students will be challenged through various case-studies, journaling, peer-reviews and other methods to address their areas of improvement as a leader. Students shall create a biography on the perception of their leadership ability, participate in online discussions and maintain a weekly journal. Unit Physical Fitness Periodization (Blended- 30 hours) Students will employ periodization concepts for unit-based physical training that addresses the unique needs of a unit. The student identifies the goals of the unit and the deployment or training cycle while considering leave blocks, physical fitness evaluations, exercises and other unit-based events. Students shall create a 2-year training program for 3 separate units using appropriate macro-, meso-, and micro-cycles. Monitoring Physical Fitness Staff (DL- 35 hours + 6 hours OJT) Students will learn the art of assessing physical fitness sessions and evaluations using various approaches. They will be provided counselling, debriefing and questioning techniques to highlight points of emphasis for remedial action and areas of strength to be maintained. A significant portion of this course will require on-the-job training. Students will be required to assess a physical fitness session, FORCE evaluation and various specialty trade evaluations. Students enrolled in the professional development stream will require annual refresher training. Setting Work Schedules (DL- 1 hour) Students will be provided progressive responsibly in creating staff work schedules that addresses the responsibilities of the local program and the individual talents on the staff. They will use local resources and strategies to develop two separate 1-week work schedules. Students enrolled in the professional development stream will required annual refresher training. Physical Fitness Scope of Practice (DL- 6 hours) This course provides an in-depth look at the legal and professional responsibilities of various CAF base / wing programs in relation to F&S. The student will demonstrate extensive comprehension of the CAF physical fitness program as well as collaboration and cooperation opportunities with other CAF services. Budget 1 (DL- 1 hour) This course is an extension of the Training Requirement and Procurement course, to provide an overview of using budgets. Training Requirement and Procurement is a co-requisite of this course. Facilitating Meetings and Briefings (DL- 1 hour + 3 hours OJT ) This course provides a framework for conducting meetings and briefings. The student will be required to conduct three meetings and / or briefings under supervision and provide a written framework for each.

COURSES / MODULES Event Planning 1 (DL- 1 hour + 3 hours OJT) The course provides the tools to coordinate events at your local base / wing / site. The student will be required to coordinate three events at the discretion of the Director: one under direct supervision, one under semi-supervision and the other under minimal supervision. Analyze Physical Fitness Programs (F2F 3 hours) Students will learn the process of evaluating base-wide programs and the implementation of national programs. Feedback mechanisms, survey tools and providing strategies to target the base/wing population. Conducting In-services Training (F2F- 6 hours + 3 hours OJT) Students will learn the art of organizing effective in-service training for PSP, BFTA s and AFTA s. They will be required to conduct three progressive in-services that compliment the local physical fitness program at their base / wing / site. Students enrolled in the professional development stream will required annual refresher training. Advertising and Marketing (F2F- 3 hours + 2 hours OJT) Students will devise an advertising strategy and create a communication plan for a local physical fitness program using various personnel resources. Observation Phase (F2F- 80 hours + 20 hours OJT) This phase of the FS4 will require a candidate to attend a BFTA course as an observer. The candidate will be expected to conduct all physical fitness and FORCE demonstration periods, including the obstacle course and rope climbing periods. Each candidate will be required to complete a reflective observation written assignment. Participation Phase (F2F- 80 hours + 20 hours OJT) This phase of the FS4 will require a candidate to attend a BFTA a second time where they will be required to deliver a minimum 25% of the BFTA material under direct supervision. The candidate will co-monitor all performance checks and complete a reflective written assignment on their performance during the phase. Supervision Phase (F2F- 80 hours + 20 hours OJT) This phase of the FS4 will require a candidate to attend a BFTA, a third time, where they assume an assistant role under direct supervision. The candidate will instruct the BFTA content, as indicated on the course schedule, and monitor all performance checks. The FS4 qualification will be granted after successful completion of this phase.
