Who we are KARI s main mission is to build strength in families and services, and our vision is to help Aboriginal families, youth and communities flourish. KARI is guided by seven values, which include: Innovation: Review everything you do and seek ways to improve both the process and the outcome. Access: KARI services are made available to all Aboriginal people in a community. Professionalism: Always strive to offer the highest possible standard of service, on time, as promised we are all accountable for keeping our promise. Strength through Culture: Aboriginal people should experience the culture as a living reality, bringing with it a sense of identity and confidence. Respect: Everyone deserves to be respected; we will speak openly, honestly, and always respectfully. Unity of Purpose: On any professional issues that arise, we work together and speak with one voice. We will also seek out new community partnerships to achieve Aboriginal goals. Excellence: Every day, we provide the best possible standards of service and every day, we strive to be the benchmark provider of quality services to Aboriginal people.
KARI has been successfully operating in New South Wales region since 1999. We began working to support Aboriginal children in foster care and have grown to become the largest Aboriginal foster care provider in Australia. Since then, KARI has further developed our services and began delivering community programs, early intervention, cultural programs, educational support and family preservation services. KARI has also expanded these services into other regions such as Western and Metro Sydney. Today, KARI is proud to employ over 120 staff members who help to support approximately 400 Aboriginal children in our Out-of-Home Care Program. The Out-of-Home Care Program is in a successful consortium with NSW Family and Community Services since 1999. KARI established the KARI Foundation during 2017, which provides an innovative approach to showcasing Aboriginal excellence, culture and community achievement by building and nurturing the connection between governments and corporates to Aboriginal Australia. The Foundation is a notfor-profit organisation, which has obtained deductible Gifts Registered Status ensuring all donations over $2 are tax deductible. KARI strives to offer a continuum of award-winning services that all begin at general community engagement, move on to models of early intervention and ultimately work to deliver an effective foster care program all with the end goal of alleviating disadvantage in Aboriginal communities, while supporting restoration and preservation in Aboriginal families.
