How do you find the time to write new and renew existing business, and at the same time, balance all of the personal activities that are required to make this a very special holiday season for your family and loved ones? It s a real conundrum! The fourth quarter is truly the golden quarter, where we hopefully write more than we lose. Most of you who are reading this now, survived another year, but are certainly tired and ready for a more pleasant diversion! You made it, and deserve to be rewarded by attending our HCAA Executive Forum in Las Vegas, starting the evening of February 5, 2018. Rewarded, not only because Las Vegas is a great place to visit, but especially because the speakers we have arranged are truly incredible. When great speakers are combined with networking with your peers, you can count on hearing the one good idea that will make a difference to you, your company and your life. I truly believe that this is the strongest group of speakers we have ever presented. Another conundrum I have been thinking about is technology and products that we add to our core services. As we consider new and innovative technologies and services, how can we stay at the bleeding edge of our business and avoid the seemingly inevitable overlaps that exist between products? While every vendor is unique and purports to be better than their competition, there are always overlaps of capabilities and how can we afford to offer the overlaps? Moreover, how can our clients afford to pay for the built-in redundancies?
I have stated previously that I evaluate conferences based upon my desire to hear that one good idea that I can take back to the office and monetize or implement to improve the quality of life for my staff or customers. However, if I am honest, I also attend to kick the tires of the vendors. Just like I shop for a new car or new flat panel TV, I want to personally see a demonstration. I want to personally speak with a knowledgeable representative who can answer my questions and can differentiate themselves from their competition. It s the only way I know how to remain state of the art, remain competitive and relevant. HCAA s culture is one that embraces their vendors as business partners and is unique in our policy of keeping the vendors in the same room as the general sessions. We know that everyone is pressed for time and that many breakout sessions dilute your opportunity to speak with a vendor and have your questions answered by a knowledgeable representative. We also realize that the reason we are able to provide some of the best conferences in our industry is because industry vendors continue to partner with HCAA. The House always wins, especially in Vegas. It also wins in your house if you take the time to visit with our vendors. A short visit will guarantee that while you are always offering your clients best of class service, you will never waste money. Enjoy your time in Vegas. Please participate and challenge the presenters where appropriate. Ask questions in search of that one good idea, share with your peers and please find the time to visit with the world class vendors who are located just a few steps away.
