ENERGY (Chi) YOUR VITAL FORCE Energy Strength of expression; force of utterance; power to impress the mind and arouse the feeling, life, and spirit. The capacity to perform work. The 3 rd facet of the 4 facets of a Brilliant Body Before we talk about Energy, we must talk about Fatigue. It is a feeling of weakness that can range from simple tiredness to total exhaustion. Over 50% of doctor visits are because of fatigue. It is not a disease, but a symptom. A symptom of heart disease, infection, depression, anemia, cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, neurological problems, and/or drug side effects. It is also related to lack of sleep, or lack of quality sleep due to sleep apnea or other conditions. 2

Fatigue (cont.) Fatigue may be accompanied by feelings of dizziness, nausea, heart palpitations or shortness of breath when people are overtired. If it does not respond to rest, or if it comes on suddenly or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever or pain, seek immediate medical help. Fatigue can also be caused by nutritional deficiencies, the number 1 cause of dis ease. Fatigue (cont.) It starts at the cellular level. When the mitochondria (power house of the cell) is operating efficiently, there is more than enough energy to operate the cell and, collectively, the organism (human). If, for some reason, there is mitochondrial dysfunction, power failure results > FATIGUE. By doing the BTA/QFA (urine and saliva) testing we can evaluate the function of the mitochondria and design a specific health program. The Digestive System An Energy Hog Food is your Best Medicine, but the wrong food is your Worse Enemy! Up to 2/3 of the energy your body produces daily is expended just to complete the process of digestion. It s a big job! Food either gives you the nutrients it has Whole Foods or takes away the nutrients it doesn t have SAD 3

Foods to avoid or limit Milk products, white sugar, white flour, fatty foods, red meats, and the artificial sweetener Sugar sweetened drinks, alcohol, and high caffeine drinks coffee, black tea, Red Bull and other energy drinks Possible sources of food allergy, including corn, dairy products, soy and wheat/gluten Many people want immediate energy boosters such as Red Bull, but a large amount of them also feel that these caffeinated drinks are not healthful. In reality, caffeine, a major ingredient in energy boosting drinks, is not as bad as some make it out to be. Like any supplement ingredient, caffeine can cause negative, harmful effects in certain sensitive individuals and/or when excessive amounts are consumed. In moderation, caffeine can improve physical performance and significantly enhance the mental performance parameters of concentration and memory. A large portion of our population desires greater energy, but caffeine can make certain individuals feel nauseated or jittery. 4
