Energy Medicine to Restore and Maintain Vitality and Health Mary K. Grigsby, MEd, LPC, EEM-CLP
What is this thing called Energy?
Uses of Energy in Conventional Medicine Today To transmit information: heart pacemakers, harmonic frequencies that dissolve kidney stones, and the use of magnets for alleviating tendonitis, facial paralysis, and optic nerve atrophy. In energy-scanning diagnostic instruments: MRIs, EEGs, ECGs, electromyograms (EMGs), and CAT scans. Pulsed magnetic stimulation (PMS) machines, or brain pacemakers, create magnetic fields that have been effective in working with a range of disorders, from Parkinson s disease to epilepsy to depression.
Energy takes many forms such as kinetic, thermal, chemical, nuclear but the energies most pertinent to energy medicine seem to involve the body s (1) electrical energies, (2) electromagnetic energies, and (3) subtle energies. - David Feinstein, Six Pillars of Energy Medicine
Electrical Energies: Each cell in the body is like a little battery, storing and emitting energy. Every breath every muscle movement, and every morsel of food being digested involves electrical activity. Likewise, memories, feelings, and thoughts are encoded in patterns of tiny electrical impulses. - David Feinstein, Six Pillars of Energy Medicine Electromagnetic Energies: Electromagnetic waves: radio waves to microwaves to infrared light to visible light to ultraviolet light to x-rays and gamma rays.
Subtle Energies: Einstein described subtle energies as energies known because of their effects, even though we do not have the instruments to detect them directly. Electromagnetism was in that category only 250 years ago. Its effects could be observed, but electromagnetism itself could not be measured.
Early Researchers in Energy Owen Frazee reported in 1909 that passing electrical currents through water containing young salamanders speeded up the regeneration of amputated limbs. Elmer Lund at the University of Texas found, in the 1920s, that the cellular structure of the hydra, a tiny fresh-water aquatic animal, could be reorganized by applying electric current strong enough to over- ride the organism s electromagnetic polarities, causing, for instance, a head to appear where a tail would be expected. Harold Burr, at the Yale School of Medicine, measured the electrical field around an unfertilized salamander egg and found that it was shaped like a mature salamander Burr demonstrated that physical illness is preceded by changes in an organism s electromagnetic field. Burr HS. The Fields of Life. New York: Ballantine; 1972. Matthews RE. Harold Burr s Biofields: measuring the electromagnetics of life.
Receptor antennas can also read vibrational energy fields Because of this, the notion that only physical molecules can impact cell physiology is outmoded. Lipton BH. The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, 2005.
Biological behavior can be controlled by invisible forces, including thought, as well as it can be controlled by physical molecules like penicillin, a fact that provides the scientific underpinning for pharmaceutical-free energy medicine. Lipton BH. The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, 2005.
We are now in the process of revising the past century s biochemical concept, under which all major life processes are chemical in nature, to one that proposes that such processes are electromagnetic in nature. Robert O. Becker, MD Becker RO. Exploring new horizons in electromedicine. J Altern Complement Med. 2004;10(1):17-18.
Norman Shealy, MD, the founding president of the American Holistic Medical Association, has predicted based on striking clinical and emerging scientific findings that energy medicine is the future of medicine. Shealy N., Speech at 8th Annual Conference of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine; June 20, 1998; Boulder, CO.
According to the National Institutes of Health Energy Medicine is one of the five defined areas within Complementary and Alternative Medicine

Eden Energy Medicine Eden Energy Medicine, at its foundation, focuses on the energy fields of the body that organize and control the growth and repair of cells, tissue, and organs. Changing impaired energy patterns may be the most efficient, least invasive way to improve the vitality of organs, cells, and psyche." - David Feinstein, Ph.D.

Principles of Energy Medicine Energy wants to move Energy wants to move in specific patterns Energy wants to cross in small and large figure 8s Energy needs space to move The health of the body reflects the health of its energies All the body s energies are inter-connected Your energy is affected by other people and events in your environment Energies adapt to circumstances using consistent priorities Energy can form habits that may not readily change, even when these habits are harmful Energies can be re-patterned!

9 Energy Systems Meridians
Meridians a distinct energy system that functions alongside the accepted blood circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems, capable of reading, coding, and transmitting information from one part of the body to another evidence suggests that disruption in a meridian pathway precedes (and thus predicts) disease in specific organs served by that meridian, and that meridians whose energies are disrupted can be treated for therapeutic benefit. - Curtis BD, Hurtak JJ. Consciousness and quantum information processing: uncovering the foundation for a medicine of light. J Altern Complement Med. 2004; 10(1):27-39.
