Favorite color: Pink Three words that best describe me: Caring, Honest, Thoughtful Last book read: I just read I Love You, Stinky Face to my 6 month old son Last movie watched: Lincoln was the last movie I watched Something few know about me: I love being a mom! I just had my first child, my sweet baby boy, back in July. I am experiencing that being a parent is hard at times but so very rewarding. Those hard times are quickly forgotten when I hear him laugh or when he gets excited to see me when I walk in the room. I just never knew it was possible to have so much love for someone. He definitely melts my heart! My favorite part about working for the Society: I have so many reasons why I love working for the chapter but one of my favorites is all of the new people I have met, friends I have made and the support they give. Each of their unique stories about why they want to help me in the fight to create a world free of MS inspires me and makes me want to work harder to raise funds for research to find a cure. Free Matter for the Blind or Handicapped 1201 Story Avenue Suite 200 Louisville, KY 40206 Volunteer Spotlight DAniel Carper Daniel Carper, an adventurous 12 year old, has set his mind to riding in the 2013 Bike MS. Not only is he going to ride, but his fund raising goal is $1,300! However, he doesn t plan to use only his charm and wit to reach the goal! When asked Why ride? Daniel says, To support my family members who have MS and find a cure. He has started Cords for a Cause which designs, braids, and sells paracord bracelets for $5, with all proceeds going to his Bike MS fund. With the help of family and friends, he has currently raised over $900 for the National MS Society by making and selling over 150 bracelets and garnering a few extra donations along the way from generous supporters. One of his big events was Daniel carper, 12-year-old volunteer the LaGrange Beef O Brady s Cords for a Cause night where over 50 bracelets were sold and 10% of food sales went to his fund for a total of $452. With more Cords for a Cause events before the ride, he will surely surpass his goal. How far will you ride? he replies, I want to do the 65 mile route! He invites everyone to get on their bikes and join him on the road in June to help find a cure and Bike MS! To purchase your very own bracelet send an email to parabrace.ms@gmail.com.
