Prospective students are primarily selected on the basis of their teaching potential and therefore may not be accepted into the predoctoral program. When this occurs, patients are referred to one of the college's postdoctoral programs for evaluation. Patients who are not accepted into a postdoctoral program will receive a list of private practitioners for possible care. Postgraduate dentists also provide general dental treatment and specialized care in oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. The clinics are open year round, but close for one month during the summer.
