Clinical Guidelines 3-C-04c The Thoracic Oncology NSSG confirmed they will continue to follow NICE guidelines and the latest Royal College of Pathologists Guidelines 204. 7. Pathways 3-C-06c The pathway for Molecular Genetics will be reviewed with a view to saving time, money and patient intervention by sending a single block sample that would be used for both EGFR and histopathology investigations. 8. Audit 3-C-08c The Thoracic Oncology NSSG confirmed its commitment to the National Clinical Lung Cancer Audit (LUCADA) and the Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD). The group will support and encourage junior members of staff to carry out audits and provide a forum for the network presentation of any local audits. 9. Patient Representation 3-C-07c Survival rates for thoracic patients are considerably lower than other cancer sites and it would be difficult to recruit user representatives. Engagement with patient support groups such as the Roy Castle Foundation was felt to be more appropriate. 0. Research and Clinical Trials 3-C-8g The group will discuss recruitment into clinical trials at each NSSG meeting. A report highlighting the current and proposed recruitment status of each MDT was circulated to the group in May 205. The Cancer Research Network transitioned in April 204 into fifteen local research networks, aligned with the Academic Health Service Network. The new South West Peninsula Cancer Research Network (PCRN) was set up to include: Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust South Devon Healthcare NHS Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Taunton and Somerset NHS Yeovil District Hospital NHS
