AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY EIGHTH ANNUAL Pan Ohio Hope Ride 328 miles >> Cleveland >> Columbus >> Cincinnati July 24-27, 2014 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR HOPE LODGES AND OTHER CRITICAL PROGRAMS IN SUPPORT OF THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER. The American Cancer Society s Pan Ohio Hope Ride July 24-27, 2014 [328 miles >> Cleveland >> Columbus >> Cincinnati] Hope Ride Sponsorship The American Cancer Society s Pan Ohio Hope Ride provides your company/organization the opportunity to partner in an effort to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures and fighting back. One example of helping people get well is assisting with access to care by providing lodging through our nationwide Hope Lodge program. What is the Pan Ohio Hope Ride? The Pan Ohio Hope Ride is a noncompetitive, four-day, multistage cycling event starting at the Society s Hope Lodge in Cleveland and ending near the Hope Lodge in Cincinnati. In 2013, the Pan Ohio Hope Ride raised more than $750,000 and since its inception in 2007, it is has raised more than $3 million. We expect in 2014 that this unique statewide event will surpass the $4 million dollar cumulative total. What is a Hope Lodge? Getting the most up-to-date treatment sometimes means cancer patients must travel far from home. Having to travel for access to leading-edge care places even greater emotional and financial burdens on cancer patients and their families. The Society offers many patient service programs to help ease such burdens. The Society s Hope Lodges offer free, comfortable housing for patients undergoing hospital treatment. More than just a place to stay, these lodges provide a home-like, nurturing environment where patients and their family members can find support among other residents going through similar experiences. Two of the Society s 32 owned and operated Hope Lodges are located in Cleveland and Cincinnati.

PARTNER WITH US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER Why should you sponsor the Pan Ohio Hope Ride? IDENTIFY WITH YOUR EMPLOYEE AND CUSTOMER S TOP HEALTH CONCERN. * Last year in Ohio alone, over 58,000 people were newly diagnosed with cancer. * About one in three Americans will experience cancer in his or her lifetime. * One-third of adults have served as an unpaid caregiver for a cancer patient. * Over the four days of the 2012 Pan Ohio Hope Ride, more than 600 people heard the words, You have cancer for the first time. ASSOCIATE YOURSELF WITH A POWERFUL BRAND. * The American Cancer Society is a leader and the most respected health organization. * A survey found 96% of Americans know the American Cancer Society. PARTNERING WITH THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY DEMONSTRATES YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR EMPLOYEES TOP HEALTH CONCERN AND ALIGNS YOUR COMPANY WITH THE MOST TRUSTED HEALTH ORGANIZATION. The American Cancer Society saves lives and creates a world with more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. SAVE LIVES AND HELP CANCER PATIENTS GET WELL * Ohio s two Hope Lodges have provided more than 141,894 free nights of housing, saving patients and their families an estimated $28.4 million since 1995. The Society has 30 other Hope Lodges near major cancer centers around the nation. HEALTH AND WELLNESS The Pan Ohio Hope Ride not only provides funds for our patient service programs but also supports our common goal of health and wellness promotion through the ride s training opportunities and teambuilding activities. CYCLING IS ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING ACTIVITIES IN THE UNITED STATES, AND THE SECOND MOST POPULAR FORM OF FITNESS. CONSIDER: Total U.S. Cyclists: [64.3 MILLION] Avid cyclists (Fitness): [31 MILLION] Male / Female (Adults): [45% / 55%] Median Household Income: [$60,000+] College Graduates: [70%*] (*Source: Simmons, MRI, USA Cycling Membership, Bicycling Magazine) The Pan Ohio Hope Ride cyclists last year were 71% male / 29% female, with ages from 18 to over 70. With the Pan Ohio Hope Ride crossing Ohio, our riders have come from every corner of the state as well as 29 different states, and 5 countries around the world. Virtually all have a very high affinity with the American Cancer Society, making a co-branding opportunity powerful to this audience.

2012 American Cancer Society East Central Division (Ohio & Pennsylvania) MISSION ACCOMPLISHMENTS In communities across Ohio and Pennsylvania, the American Cancer Society is committed to saving lives and creating a world with more birthdays by helping you stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer. Here are just a few of the ways we can help. STAY WELL GET WELL Tobacco use is a major preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. Cigarette smoking is by far the most important risk factor in the development of lung cancer. One third of cancer deaths are related to physical inactivity and poor nutrition. Mammography is the most powerful tool for the early detection of breast cancer. Colorectal cancer is preventable through screening. We Help You Stay Well By: Giving an estimated 3.8 million adult smokers in Ohio and Pennsylvania access to information, referrals and support resources to help quit smoking by calling 1-800-227-2345 In partnership with more than 50 companies, we have provided assistance in creating policies that impact tobacco use in the workplace resulting in a healthier workforce. Educating individuals, healthcare professionals, and policy makers about the relationship between maintaining a healthy weight, nutrition, physical activity and cancer Cancer Prevention Study Two (CPS-II) was the first to show that being overweight or obese shortens life expectancy. It also linked obesity to increased deaths from more than 10 different types of cancer. Increasing breast and colorectal cancer screenings with a focus on underserved communities through community partnerships, health care provider engagement and encouraging individuals to seek information about detecting cancer early With the help of partners, we have invested funding and resources in community projects to increase cancer screening in underserved communities. Our projects have educated over 4,300 participants and screened over 2,400 individuals. We have provided tools and resources to physician practices to increase cancer screening among eligible patients. There are 14 million people alive today who have had cancer in the United States. An estimated 144,900 people in Ohio and Pennsylvania will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The American Cancer Society provides information, day-today help, and emotional support to people with cancer and their families. We want to help you get well. Our help is free and we are available anytime, day or night. Call us at 1-800- 227-2345 and speak to one of our cancer information specialists or visit us online at cancer.org. We Help You Get Well By: Providing access to the most up-to-date cancer information, referrals to community resources and patient support programs 53,820 patients and caregivers from Ohio and Pennsylvania were served with information or patient programs and received 149,060 services. Helping people access quality care by providing transportation and lodging assistance 10,880 patients and caregivers received free transportation to and from their cancer treatments or free overnight housing to assist them in accessing their cancer treatments when treatment options were far from home. 2,830 patients and caregivers stayed at one of our four Hope Lodge facilities in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Hershey, and Philadelphia, saving them approximately $4.2 million in lodging costs. Providing emotional support through the cancer journey 11,140 patients and caregivers received emotional support from cancer survivors; help dealing with the cosmetic effects of cancer treatment; and online or group education and support. This past year, there were over 3.8 million unique visits to the Cancer Survivors Network accessible through cancer.org. Helping survivors celebrate and fight back against the disease: 35,380 cancer survivors participated in Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

FIND CURES FIGHT BACK The American Cancer Society dedicates more money to cancer research than any other private, not-for-profit, nongovernment funded cancer research organization in the United States. In the 66-year history of its research program, the American Cancer Society has invested more than $3.8 billion in cancer research. 47 American Cancer Society researchers have gone on to win the Nobel Prize, the highest accolade of scientific achievement. We Find Cures by Investing in Research at the Following Institutions in the Division: Institution University of Pittsburgh University of Pennsylvania # of Grants Amount 16 $9,260,000 15 $7,579,000 Local, state, and federal lawmakers play a critical role in the fight against cancer, because every day legislators make decisions that impact the lives of million Americans touched by cancer. Our ability to make a difference in the lives of people touched by cancer increases exponentially when we help pass laws and put public policies in place that secure investments in research and prevention, greater access to care, and improved quality of life. We Fight Back by Calling on Lawmakers to: Increase investments for cancer research programs. Increase access to cancer care, prevention, and awareness programs. Reduce disparities among minority and medically underserved populations. Reduce and prevent suffering from tobacco-related illness. Case Western Reserve Univ. Under the leadership of a state volunteer lead for Ohio and a state volunteer lead for Pennsylvania, we mobilize a group of 37 dedicated advocacy volunteers called Ambassador Constituent Team (ACT) Leads that represent each congressional district in Ohio and Pennsylvania and lead teams of volunteer advocates that helped raise more than $289,000 to support ACS CAN and recruited over 5,910 new ACS CAN members last year. These volunteers are passionate about working with their local, state, and federal legislators to help them make informed decisions regarding cancer-related legislation.
