Orthopaedic surgeons, physician extenders and primary care specialists with a desire to learn or reinforce their knowledge on the use of orthobiologics, or an interest in expanding their practice into the field of orthobiologics. COURSE DESCRIPTION AOSSM s OrthoBiologics: Integrating Biologics and Clinical Ultrasound into Your Practice is the first course of its kind offered by a subspecialty organization. We are thrilled to have co-chairs,, and Rachel M. Frank MD, along with renowned faculty who are thought leaders in the research and clinical use of orthobiologics and regenerative medicine techniques. The aim of the course is to provide orthopaedic surgeons with resources on how to properly use currently available biologics for treating musculoskeletal disorders. Through didactic lectures, case discussions, live and video demonstrations and hands-on practice with cadavers, the course will provide attendees with clinical decision-making skills, an overview of available technologies and regulations along with the best and most up-to-date evidence and methods to implement orthobiologics into your practice. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to: Discuss current indications for orthobiologics based on the published evidence Discuss the proper selection of biologics for specific treatments Explain the role of MSK ultrasound in clinical practice Recognize normal and abnormal ultrasound anatomy of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle Utilize ultrasound guided techniques for MSK injections WHAT MAKES THIS COURSE UNIQUE? Opportunity to learn from experts in the field of orthobiologics in a small and comfortable setting with easy access to faculty Hands-on practice with adipose tissue and bone marrow harvesting and processing on cadavers Hands-on practice with ultrasound guided injections on whole cadavers from the shoulder down to the ankles A modern, state-of-the-art learning environment HOUSING A block of rooms has been reserved at Hyatt Rosemont (one block from the Orthopaedic Learning Center) at a group rate of $129. Reservations may be made by calling (800) 233-1234 and asking for the AOSSM Surgical Skills Course Room Block. You can also book directly online at sportsmed.org. The reservation deadline is September 21, 2018. Room rates are until this date pending availability. Reservations after this date may be at a higher rate. Attendees are encouraged to book early. The registration fee, minus a $250 processing fee, will be refunded following the conference. No refunds will be made after September 12, 2018.
