Monthly news, updates, events and more from The Lord's Place! May 4, 2017 Family Campus Playground Ribbon Cutting - June 1 Great Give - May 17 - Midnight to Midnight

Are you giving to the Great Give? The Lord's Place is so excited to participate, and will be at CityPlace through the lunch hour on May 17 to support this great event along with the United Way! We are so grateful to Palm Beach County and all of our friends. Thank you to all of those who plan to give! SleepOut Recap: Photos, Lanterns and More! The Lord's Place 10th Annual SleepOut was a big success on every level. More than 500 people from across the community gathered at the all-night event on April 7 in West Palm Beach to celebrate the lives changed through the mission of The Lord's Place, raising more than $750,000 to fund its mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness. Having surpassed its fundraising goal of $300,000 through gifts from more than 1,200 donations supporting 70 SleepOut teams, The Lord's Place was honored with a $100,000 matching gift from a generous anonymous donor. Then, as the SleepOut program began, The Honorable Ann and Don Brown announced from the stage that they would double the $300,000 raised, sending the fundraising total from SleepOut 2017 over the $750,000 mark, more than twice the amount the event had raised previously. "We gave what we gave, because of what everyone else gave," said Don Brown. "We were inspired by the groundswell of support from the community for The Lord's Place. We are proud to be part of such a large group of supporters for this great organization which does so much good to help homeless people turn their lives around." The Honorable Ann Brown added, "We walked out of SleepOut thrilled that we were able to make that donation. However excited the crowd was when we made the announcement, we were even more excited!" Have you seen photos from SleepOut? Three very gifted photographers have captured SleepOut in such a beautiful way. Thank you to David Scarola Photography, Clark T Grant Photography and Val Stanley, Lord's Place Employee, for beautiful photos. You can see all of their photos by clicking here. Lanterns for Sale Also, if you were at SleepOut, you will remember seeing these lanterns used in the presentation to represent all 10 years of SleepOut. They are for sale for $25, and are a beautiful commemorative piece. If you are interested in

purchasing a year (2009-2017 available, only nine left), please email or call 561-578-4928, to arrange for pick up and payment. Joan Now Has a Place to Call Home Joan was living in our local parks for almost three years. Seven months ago, a Lord's Place peer specialist met her, and began to start a friendship. At first, Joan was guarded, mistrustful and did not believe she was worth helping. Our peer specialist continued to reach out, even bringing her in for lunch at Cafe Joshua. Joan finally began to talk about being hopeful, but said she was trying to not get too excited that The Lord's Place could actually help her. This week, Joan moved in to an Operation Home Ready apartment... her very own home. She is doing well, and her peer specialist is teaching her how to knit. Thank You to Local Foundations! The Salah Foundation recently awarded The Lord's Place with funding for Burckle Place West. "We are proud to support a housing project that will provide Burckle Place graduates with a safe and stable living environment," said George Taylor. "This project will truly break the cycle of homelessness for these women and allow them to still receive the services they need." Eleven women who were formerly homeless will be able to live at Burckle Place West, thanks to foundations like The Salah Foundation. The Lord's Place is so grateful! The Lord's Place would also like to thank

the Jewish Women's Foundation for its recent multi-year grant to support a new gender-responsive initiative for homeless and formerly incarcerated women and girls in Palm Beach County. We are thrilled to begin this new partnership with the Jewish Women's Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches, and we look forward to working together to empower underserved women and girls and promote social change in our community. The Lord's Place also extends a BIG thank you to the Admirals Cove Foundation for supporting Café Joshua during its Inaugural Year! We are so excited for the opportunity to partner with you to prevent and end homelessness in our community. This year, through the generous support of Admirals Cove and many other leading local funders, Café Joshua will teach employment skills to more than 175 at-risk jobseekers and help an estimated 100 secure gainful employment in the competitive workforce. 2808 North Australian Ave. West Palm Beach, FL 33407 561.494.0125 2808 North Australian Ave. West Palm Beach, FL 33407 561.424.9465 7600 South Dixie Hwy West Palm Beach, FL 33405 561.537.4666
