13 Use of the FAO Compiler tool What is the FAO compiler tool? Created by the FAO/INFOODS for the sole purpose of food data compilation. It is free. How useful? It is the gold standard for food data compilation and was the tool used to produce the WAFCT 2012 The use of the tool was suggested at the February consultation meeting. It is a 16 sheet Excel workbook which provides a 3 stage compilation process using the Archival, Reference and User databases.

15 The USER DB(final stop of compilation) contains 29 nutrients of 285 foods in 16 Food Groups from 217 References. Data was borrowed from two existing databases namely; 1. United States Department of Agriculture(USDA) and 2. West African Food Composition Table(WAFCT)
