A negative mind never attracts happiness or material success, but it will attract their opposites. You may trick yourself into believing that you are only playing devil's advocate or searching for weaknesses in apparently good ideas, but in the end negative thinking always produces negative results. Just as your mind will work tirelessly to translate your positive thoughts into their physical equivalent, it will work equally hard to create negative results when all of your thoughts are negative. Optimists Live Longer! Studies have shown that people who think positively have longer lives and fewer problems with depression In a study of people treated for heart disease, positive thinkers had a 17% decreased risk of death compared to negative thinkers One study found that people with negative thought patterns also had weaker immune systems Positive thinking can also help you go past your physical limits! Researcher found that when physically fit men and women gave themselves pep talks while riding stationary bikes, they were able to ride 18% longer before hitting the point of total exhaustion Researchers noted that our brains are wired to stop when we feel discomfort; those who are motivated can push past discomfort to achieve their goals
The Flip Side: Anger Can Kill You Chronic anger is linked to decreased lung function, heart disease, stroke and other health problems People who are often angry tend to have other chronic negative emotions (anxiety and depression) as well Among patients diagnosed with heart disease, those with angry temperaments are 24% more likely to have a poor prognosis Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Forgiveness reduces anxiety, lowers blood pressure, and lets you breath more easily; back pain, stomach problems, and headaches may disappear; your stress hormones go down and your immune system will be stronger Forgiveness is not always easy, but here are two suggestions: Actively acknowledge what is good in your life; forgiveness is easier when you focus on the positive Reduce stress: Stress management helps calm feelings of anger and resentment and make it easier to forgive
My Philosophy It s truly amazing how so many good things happen when we stay positive. My philosophy is first, to believe in God, in myself, and always know that all things turn out for our great good when we love the Lord and believe they will. Things may at times look bad only because we do not understand the workings of the universe (God), the power of our minds and the power of belief. Stay positive, believe in yourself, and dream big goals.
