SCHOOL OF PHYSIOTHERAPY 1. These Program Regulations apply to all students who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science on the Fremantle Campus. 2. 1 INTRODUCTION AND INTERPRETATION 1.1 Introduction These Program Regulations apply to all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award at The University of Notre Dame Australia. These Regulations should be read in conjunction with the University s General Regulations and the School of Physiotherapy Regulations. 1.2 Interpretation The terms included in these Regulations have the meanings as defined in the University s General Regulations and the School of Physiotherapy Regulations. 1.3 Amendments made to Program Regulations Unless otherwise specified, when amendments are made to the structure, content or academic requirements of the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award, the amendments will automatically apply in accordance with General Regulation Section 1.7. 1.4 Applicability to Campuses of the University The Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award is available on the Fremantle Campus only. 1.5 The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) The Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award is a Level 7 AQF qualification. 3542 Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science PAGE 4

2 ENTRY CRITERIA 2.1 General Criteria The standard entry requirements for admission are detailed in the University s General Regulations and the School of Physiotherapy Regulations. 2.2 Additional Entry Requirements / Pre-Requisites The following pre-requisites apply to this Award: Entry to this degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 375 units of credit (excluding core curriculum courses) of the parent degree, Bachelor of Physiotherapy from The University of Notre Dame Australia. 2.3 External Accreditation Requirements External accreditation requirements are not applicable to this Award. 3542 Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science PAGE 5

3 AWARD REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Structure For the structure of the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science, refer to Appendix A. 3.1.1 Compulsory Courses (a) Successful completion of 325 units of credit of the parent degree Bachelor of Physiotherapy as governed by the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program Regulations. (b) Core Curriculum courses totalling 75 units of credit as specified by the General Regulations of the University. (c) Courses to a minimum of 200 units of credit selected from courses available in the School of Physiotherapy (Appendix A), or as approved by the Dean in accordance with Regulation 3.1.1 (d) and 3.4 of these Regulations. (d) Prior to entry into the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science, a student may have completed defined clinical education courses within the parent degree, and these may be used as courses to satisfy units of credit for entry or to satisfy units of credit within the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science, but a student may not enrol in further physiotherapy clinical education courses to complete this degree. 3.1.2 Elective Courses There are no Electives within this Award. 3.1.3 Majors and Double Majors There are no Majors or Double Majors available in this Award. 3.1.4 Minors There are no Minors available in this Award. 3.1.5 Specialisations There are no Specialisations permitted in this Award. 3.1.6 Special Interest Courses There are no Special Interest Courses available in this Award. 3.2 Special Award Requirements There are no special award requirements in the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award. 3.3 Practicum or Internship requirements There are no Practicum or Internship requirements in this Award. 3.4 Approved course substitutions Course substitutions, where permitted, must be approved by the Dean. Where courses are chosen from another School of the University, the student may need to satisfy the pre-requisites or co-requisites for that course and approval of the Dean from the other School is required prior to enrolment in that course. 3.5 Alternative Pathways Alternative Pathways are not applicable for this Award. 3542 Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science PAGE 6

3.6 Volume of Learning 3.6.1 Standard Duration (a) The standard duration of the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science is 3 years of equivalent full time study. (b) A student is able to enrol in this Award on a part-time basis. 3.6.2 Accelerated Duration An accelerated mode is not available for this Award. 3.6.3 Maximum Duration The maximum period of time within which a student is permitted to complete this Award is two years (excluding any periods of approved leave of absence) from the date on which the University first enrolled them into this Award. 3.7 Graduation Where a student has satisfied all the requirements of this Award as detailed in these Program Regulations and the General Regulations, the University may grant the student graduation status. 3.8 Exit Awards An Exit Award pathway is not available for this Award. 3.9 Honours The Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science Award is not offered with Honours. APPENDIX A: BACHELOR OF REHABILITATION SCIENCE 3439 School of Physiotherapy Fremantle Campus (a) 375 units of credit from the parent degree, Bachelor of Physiotherapy as governed by the Program Regulations of that degree. (b) Core Curriculum courses totalling 75 units of credit as specified by the General Regulations of the University. (c) Completion of 150 units of credit drawn from the following courses.
