Community of Hope Program Director Job Description + Application FULL TIME POSITION The Community of Hope Program Director will give primary leadership to Riverwood s local community programming serving the vulnerable of the Elmwood community under the supervision of the Community Pastor. It will be the task of the Program Director to design and implement programs and ministries that provide a tangible and appropriate response to the needs of the local community. We desire to be a church known for the way it responds to the needs of those located around us and to enthusiastically serve and advocate for the poor, vulnerable, neglected and lonely of our community. We challenge our church to take an active role in responding to these needs and to take the step of vulnerability in relationship with those that we serve. The Program Director plays a critical part in providing opportunities for people to engage in this way. RESPONSIBILITIES Recruit, orient, train, and oversee volunteers of all Community of Hope Programs Plan, prepare, organize, and oversee all Community of Hope programs which include the following: Tuesday Community Drop-In: We operate a weekly drop-in on Tuesday afternoons that include our Cook Simple program and a community hair salon. Food Banks: We operate four volunteer run food banks (twice weekly) in partnership with Winnipeg Harvest. Community Drop-Ins: We operate community drop-ins alongside our food bank that include serving lunch, desserts, and coffee twice a week. Community of Hope Suppers: Our community suppers are happen second Tuesday. They are operated by Riverwood small groups and the Program Director is responsible to recruit small groups, and oversee their serving experience. Hire, develop, and lead our summer students to run summer programming. This includes grant writing to secure funding for the positions. Our summer programming includes a community garden, Adopt-A-Block Summers, Family Fun Days and other big events, in addition to the already running weekly programs. Cast vision and pioneer new programs that are relevant and needed in the Elmwood Community creating more volunteer opportunities and increasing our influence and presence in the community. Manage the donation and delivery of furniture and household items from our church to meet specific needs of those in our community that are in crisis. Run annual Food Drives to restock our food bank shelves. Plan and organize special events This includes Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners and other larger community events.
Story Telling: sharing the successes and stories of the program with the church community to keep awareness and inspiration for our work in the community at a high level.
