IF YOU HAVE DONE ANY VOLUNTEERING RECORD YOUR HOURS WHEN YOU CHECK INTO OUR MEETING. The Wheelchair Foundation The Rotary Club of Naples has decided to ramp up its efforts this year to raise money to purchase wheelchairs for the Wheelchair Foundation. A long-time member of the Rotary Club of Naples, Dr. Phil Regala, an orthopedic surgeon, travels to Haiti once or twice a year on a medical mission. As a surgeon who tries to repair broken bones, he knows firsthand the need for wheelchairs throughout Haiti. He personally committed $1,000 toward a container of wheelchairs (110) and The Rotary Club of Naples committed an additional $2,000. We need to raise another $8,000 for a total of $11,000 per container. With the help of District Chair Steve Agius, the Rotary Club of Naples is holding a fun social and fundraising event for Rotarians and their friends. In addition to raising money to ship a container of wheelchairs to Haiti, we may even interest others in the community to learn more about Rotary and how to become a member. This is a Collier County-wide Rotary event from 5:30 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. This social event will include a short program by Steve Agius and then he will do a cash call. The Rotary Club of Naples Bay has committed to partner in this event, and Tim Miller is working to collect funds for this worthy cause. Our Club will receive recognition in promotional flyers and pre- and post-event press releases and social media. Please promote the event and register and pay online to attend. Rotarians and Friends: Send a Container of Wheelchairs to Haiti Social and Fundraiser Thursday, September 20 5:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. Naples Beach Hotel, Everglades Room, 851 Gulf Shore Blvd., Naples (room accommodates 100+) Hors d oeuvres provided Cash bar $30/person

GOLF TOURNAMENT INFORMATION See Flier for full details of the Tournament. On August 21 we had several visitors, first we welcomed two of our scholarship winners from the Lorenzo Walker Technical College. Both recipients expressed very heart felt gratitude for the scholarships and shared how much going to school means to them. Breana Willis plans to go into Nursing and Junior Joseph is working toward certification in auto body repair and looks forward to someday perhaps even having his own shop. It was nice to hear from these two individual and it was good to listen to how our club has been a small part of their future.

It was exciting to have two new members get inducted into our club! Larry Wright did the honors with help from several club members reminding us of why we are here and what our focus are as Rotary Members. We Welcome Joe Parisi and Jerry Grandey to our club! Both will bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our club. Joe s occupation is Owner of Volvo of Naples. Joe has offered to sponsor our Golf Tournament, he is going to be a great addition to our team! Jerry is a freelance motion picture assistant director. Jerry was previously a member of the Rotary Club of Telluride, Colorado and has extensive experience with Rotary connecting with our Youth. He is bringing a wealth of Rotary knowledge to our club. We also were happy to be visited by Assistant District Governor Neil Snyder. Neil shared with us that we are one of the few Districts in the US that not only maintained membership, we grew again last year. This year our district goals include: Add 5 members to club (we have 2 and expecting 3 more) Retain Members Bring in female members Sponsor or Co-sponsor a new club (such as Rotaract, or a satellite club.) Neil expressed that as Rotarians we should be talking about ourselves and what we do more. We should maintain a social media presence and send out press releases about the things that we are doing. Our Golf Tournament and Kicks for Kids are two examples of the things we should be sharing. Neil said that he feels that our club is one of the little and mighty with a wonderful spirt. Thanks Neil we feel the same way!
