REFLECTIONS LOYALTY OUR STRENGTH YOUR IMPACT GLOBAL REACH #UCLAFUND

REFLECTIONS Students, alumni, parents and friends of UCLA certainly have a lot to be proud of. Annual giving is the cornerstone of our institution. Each year, tens of thousands of Bruins join together to give back to UCLA. While UCLA Alumni contribute roughly half of total dollars to the UCLA Fund each year, Bruins of all affiliations have progressively rallied their support, empowering UCLA to make an indelible positive imprint on the world. Over the past two yvears, our parent donors have increased by more than 10%, and friends of our university community members who value UCLA s local and global impact have increased by more than 30%. Students and young alumni those who ve graduated within the last 10 years have recognized the opportunities powered by Bruin generosity, and are proudly embracing their role as our next generation of philanthropic leaders. They have exhibited both increased volunteerism and donor participation, with young alumni donors increasing by more than 10% and student donors increasing by 20% since fiscal year 2013. $19,558,607 TOTAL RAISED TO ALL UF FUNDS 9199 NEW DONORS 40,717 TOTAL NUMBER OF GIFTS Read on to see how you and others empowered UCLA this fiscal year (July 1, 2014 June 30, 2015).

SUSTAINED ANNUAL GIVING Bruin loyalty leads the way for future generations. 10,763 NUMBER OF LOYAL DONORS (3+ consecutive years of giving) Consistent giving is transformational at UCLA. Sustained annual gifts provide the dynamic resources needed to lead the charge in every discipline. We thank our loyal donors and members of our leadership annual giving program, the UCLA Fund Chancellor s Society, for providing the philanthropic support necessary for UCLA to continue to flourish well into its second century. The UCLA Fund Chancellor s Society donors are among our most loyal donors year after year.

OUR STRENGTH MAKES BIG THINGS HAPPEN Annual gifts add up to create huge impact. We are a mighty group and there is strength in our unified giving. Gifts of $1,000 or less come together to inspire change, innovation and growth at UCLA that extends beyond the boundaries of the campus. 89% of our donors gave 34,643 gifts of $1,000 or less

Because of your support, UCLA is the gateway to making change in our world. $1,197,622 FROM 3,506 SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS UCLA is the most applied-to four-year university in the United States. Scholarship support from UCLA Fund donors not only helps recruit the best and brightest, but also helps our university proudly fulfill its public mission of ensuring access. $598, 867 FOR CENTERS AND INSTITUTES RAISED FROM 963 GIFTS With hundreds of research centers and institutes on campus, UCLA Fund donors are invaluable partners in UCLA s mission to provide the essential resources needed to drive innovation time and time again. $3,767,373 14,063 GIFTS FOR CAMPUS-WIDE SUPPORT FUNDS No part of UCLA is strong without a solid foundation for UCLA as a whole. Gifts to campus-wide support areas strengthen the core of our university and have a direct effect on programs and resources that make the UCLA experience world-class. Together, your annual gifts illustrate the immediate impact and power of Bruin generosity.

YOUR IMPACT Just a few examples of how UCLA is making a difference. 2,950 INVENTIONS UCLA has a history of leading innovation in California that impacts the world. UCLA has an active portfolio of 2,950 inventions and at least 109 companies in California have licensed technologies developed at UCLA. TOP 10 GLOBAL UNIVERSITY UCLA is recognized around the globe as a worldclass institution. London Times Higher Education ranks UCLA 10th overall in 2014 World Reputation Ranking. U.S. News & World Report ranks UCLA 2nd among public universities. UCLA also ranked 2nd among U.S. public universities in Shanghai Jiao Tong University s Academic Ranking of World Universities.

10,000+ VOLUNTEERS COMMUNITY IMPACT UCLA is consistently ranked among the top service schools in the nation by Washington Monthly. The UCLA Volunteer Center works with over 10,000 volunteers each year at hundreds of community partner sites throughout the great Los Angeles area, with UCLA Volunteer Day serving as the nation s largest community participation event for new students. Meet Navjot, Paul, Professor Pincetl and the Hyltons. These Bruins exemplify the Blue and Gold spirit that is UCLA. Click their photos to learn more. Meet Navjot Sandhu Meet Paul Chhean Navjot Sandhu 15 is a neuroscience major and a Chancellor s Student Circle donor. She gives because UCLA awakened her passion for medicine, and Bruin philanthropy supported the organizations that have then helped her. Navjot became a Medical Brigades volunteer in Honduras, bringing basic health care to people living in remote areas. She knows firsthand that many working as one can keep UCLA great and help others achieve their dreams. Brought up with compassion as a core value, undergraduate Paul Chhean 15 is dedicated to helping others, especially children. He set his sights on a nursing career and transferred from a community college in Long Beach to UCLA School of Nursing, where he helps kids who are battling cancer. The avid Bruin fan gives because he s grateful every day for the opportunity the university has given him to make his dream a reality.

Meet Professor Pincetl Meet The Hyltons UCLA professor and environmental expert Stephanie Pincetl once faced down a bulldozer ripping out the chaparral near her childhood home in rural San Diego County. Today, she is a member of an all-star team of Bruin scientists working to make Los Angeles energy and water independent. She also is a loyal UCLA Fund donor. Why? Because Stephanie knows that many working as one can work wonders. As the parents of two UCLA graduates, Art and Lesilee Hylton have a relationship with the university that stretches back to when their daughter became a student at the UCLA Lab School. The Hyltons engage with UCLA on many fronts and support areas across campus because the education in diversity and acceptance their child received at UCLA s innovative elementary school and as an undergraduate will stay with her for a lifetime.

UCLA IS EVERYWHERE The journey only begins in Westwood. Students and faculty may start their academic and research journeys at UCLA, but their thought leadership and reach can be felt across the world. Thank you again for your support from all over and let s keep growing as we head into our next century. GO BRUINS!
