KARNATAKA STATE TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION Bangalore-560 001 World TB Day Observation - 2012 Theme: Stop TB in my life time The Karnataka State TB Association and SDS Tuberculosis Research Centre & Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Chest Diseases in collaboration with Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (LWSTBC, TB Division), National Rural Health Mission, Department of Medical Education, National TB Institute, Bruhath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP, RNTCP), Swamy Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre, Indian Development Foundation, Population Service International, Sandeep Seva Nilayam, Medical & Para Medical Colleges and other major NGO s observed World TB Day 2012 at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) campus on 24th March 2012, the theme of the year Stop TB in My Life Time. The objective of the programme is to reach to as many as people; stakeholders with the message of TB and government flagship program Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) and Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS). Nearly a group of 1000 people gathered across the state from different backgrounds namely SHG members; NGOs, Volunteers, Nursing students, General public and RNTCP staff took a oath to Stop TB in their life time. Following are the highlights of the event 1)Mr. Ram Prasad IAS, Commissioner (H& FW) inaugurated the program at 11am along with the other dignitaries Dr Shashidhar Buggi Director RGICD and Dr Suryakant STO, LWSTC 2)Signature Campaign Nearly 400 people signed on flexi arranged at the venue I am stopping TB in my lifetime

3)Several stalls have been installed to display different innovative, informative and interactive initiatives of RNTCP and NGO partners which were inaugurated and caught the attention of the people gathered for the event. 4) Lady Willingdon State TB Center has honored 25 best performers in RNTCP for the year 2011-12. They are recognized with a memento and a shawl for their outstanding contributions in achieving the program objectives in their respective roles. It includes Dots Provider, TBHV, LT, STS, STLS, MO, DEO, DTO, Pharmacist, HS, PP, WHO Consultant, Sr. Specialist, and Dy. Director. 5)Several cultural programs namely folk, drama, songs have been organized to bring in awareness among the people gathered at the venue. Following are few glimpses of the event Drama by PSI Drama by PSI Stop TB In My Life Time Role Play by Bangalore (U) Drama by Bangalore (R)

6) Media Engagement LWSTC made the best use of World TB 2012 to do a meaningful engagement of media. 10 days Radio Jingles broadcasted throughout Karnataka in All India Radio. TV spot was telecasted in Zee Kannda and Suvarna News for one week. Dr Sangeeta gave did a radio interview on FM radio on World TB Day. A Press conference was held by Commissioner Health & family welfare, Director RGICD and State TB Officer a) The event was broadcasted in Television Channels Like public TV, Suvarna News, Janashree, ETV, Samaya etc and published in The Hindu, Vijaya Karnataka, Udayavani, and Kannada Prabha daily news paper on 25 th march 2012. b) IDEA telecom sponsored Bulk SMS on TB to all idea customers. **********************************************
