Instantaneous heart rate, expressed in beats per minute. Effort level Page 3 contains the following: Average pedal cadence since the start of the exercise, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Instantaneous speed, expressed in km/h. Calorie consumption, expressed in kilocalories. Distance covered, expressed in kilometres. Page 2 contains the following: Pedal cadence, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Ratio between instantaneous power and threshold power, expressed as percentage of watts. Ratio between instantaneous heart rate and maximum heart rate, expressed as a percentage of beats per minute. Exercise duration in minutes and seconds. Page 4 contains the following: Maximum pedal cadence reached, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Maximum power reached, expressed in watts. Maximum heart rate reached, expressed in beats per minute. Calorie consumption, expressed in MOVE. 5
Description of the display The heart rate is displayed only if the chest strap is connected. The time is displayed only during the exercise, not during the warm-up phase. The ratio between instantaneous power and threshold power is displayed only if the threshold power is known. The threshold power is calculated with the Technogym threshold power test. The ratio between instantaneous heart rate and maximum heart rate is displayed only if the age is known. Depending on the product setting, the distance and speed values can be displayed in km and km/h, or in mi and mph, on page 3. If the user has not logged in or entered their weight, the calorie consumption is calculated on the basis of a default 70 kg bodyweight. 6
Starting an exercise To switch on the display, pedal for a few seconds at a cadence of at least 40 rpm. The warm-up phase begins. The duration is not counted during the warm-up. Press this button during the warm-up to start an exercise. When the exercise begins, all values are reset and the calculations start again. It is possible to connect the chest strap both during the warm-up and the exercise. If the Wi-Fi connection is active, it is possible to log in: this means that the results will be saved to the personal profile. Press this button to pause the exercise. Press and hold this button to stop the exercise. At the end of the exercise the results are displayed; these are divided across 2 pages. Press the arrow buttons to scroll through the pages. 7
Technogym threshold power test This test allows you to calculate your threshold power. If you have also connected a chest strap, the threshold heart rate will also be calculated. To obtain this result, the chest strap must be connected before starting the test. Before the test it is advisable to perform a warm-up of at least 20 minutes at increasing levels of intensity. Press and hold these two buttons simultaneously within a minute of the display turning on to start the power test. No exercise must be in progress. After pressing the start button, a 5-second countdown will begin. The test lasts 20 minutes in total, as described below. If this is the first time you are taking the test, or if the test was last taken a long time ago 2 minutes In the first 2 minutes, adjust the intensity until you find a level of exertion you perceive as moderate. Choose a cadence between 70 and 100 rpm and keep it constant. 14 minutes Keep the same cadence and intensity of the previous phase constant. 4 minutes Increase the cadence and intensity to reach your maximum possible level of performance. 8
Technogym threshold power test If you have taken the test recently, and so your threshold power is known 16 minutes Maintain 70% of the threshold power resulting from the last test for the first 16 minutes. Choose a cadence between 70 and 100 rpm and keep it constant. 4 minutes Increase the cadence and intensity to reach your maximum possible level of performance. During the test, the following data are shown on the display: - Pedal cadence, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). - Instantaneous power, expressed in watts. - Heart rate, expressed in beats per minute. This value is shown if the chest strap is connected. - Time remaining to the end of the test, in minutes and seconds. The test cannot be interrupted for a pause. At the end of the test it is advisable to cool down for 3 minutes. At the end of the test, the following data are shown on the display: - Threshold power, expressed in watts. - Threshold heart rate, expressed in beats per minute. This value is shown if the chest strap is connected. If the user has logged in, the results of the test are saved to their personal profile; during subsequent training sessions, the ratio between the instantaneous power output and threshold power is shown on the display. 9
Using the chest strap The lower part of the display contains a receiver which receives the heart rate signals from the telemetric chest strap. The transmission technology used is Bluetooth Smart. The connection must be repeated with each workout. Receiver Press this button to connect the chest strap. The chest strap must be less than 30 cm from the receiver. Keep as close to the receiver as possible for 10 seconds to facilitate the connection. The heart icon flashes on the display while the connection is being negotiated; then, when the connection has been successfully established, the icon remains lit and the instantaneous heart rate is displayed. The heart rate is expressed in beats per minute. If the AVG (average) symbol is present, this means that the average heart rate since the beginning of the exercixe is being displayed. If the MAX symbol is present, this means that the maximum heart rate reached during the exercixe is being displayed. If the % symbol is present, the value shown indicates the ratio between the measured heart rate and the maximum heart rate. The user's maximum heart rate (100%) is calculated on the basis of age using the following formula: HRmax = 206.9-0.67 x age (R. L. Gelish). If the user's age has not been entered, the default value of 30 will be used. 10
Using the chest strap Warnings During a workout it is very important that your heart rate never go above 90% of the maximum (unless you are an athlete engaged in competitive sport). The sole function of the heart rate monitor is to display the heart rate during exercise and cannot be used for medical cardiac diagnoses of any kind. The heart rate shown on the display is purely indicative and cannot be considered absolutely certain. To avoid interference, equipment should be kept at a minimum distance of 170 cm, as shown in the figure. Heart rate readings may not be accurate near sources of electromagnetic radiation (TVs, mobile phones etc.). Should you have any doubts about the accuracy of the readings, contact the Technical Support Service. In the event of difficulties connecting the chest strap: - Check that the battery is not flat. - Check that the chest strap is not already connected to other devices. 170 cm 170 cm 170 cm 11

The functional threshold power is the maximum power that a subject is able to put out in an hour. The % FTP column gives the ratio between the instantaneous power and the threshold power; this value is expressed as a percentage of watts. The %FTP value is shown on the display only if the threshold power is known. The threshold power is calculated using the Technogym threshold power test. The % MAX HR column indicates the ratio between the instantaneous heart rate and the maximum heart rate, expressed as a percentage of beats per minute. This value is shown on the display only if the user's age is known. The zone column provides information on how to maximise your training on the basis of your specific goal. The colours (blue, green, yellow, orange, red) help the instructor to guide users when the Group Cycle application is also used. 12
Entering personal data Press and hold these two buttons simultaneously within a minute of the display turning on to enter age, weight and functional threshold power values.
