Product X is being widely advertised on social media platforms and websites. The manufacturer of Product X claims that the product helps both men and women get rid of stubborn fat. Product X claims to be a fat burner, appetite suppressant and can act as a carbohydrate blocker. The manufacturer s website also states that Product X is backed by research and that it is produced according to good manufacturing practices. Feedback from celebrities, posted on the manufacturer s website, supports its effectiveness and some customers claim that they have lost up to 3 kg a week using Product X. As a student of Food Studies, you are aware that several of your friends have been reading about Product X on their social media feeds and are thinking about trying it. Write a response that you could post on a health website that is popular with young people. Your response should analyse the issues surrounding Product X. In your response, include: how the principles of research used in the development of the Australian Dietary Guidelines could be applied to this product how you could apply criteria to assess the validity of the claims made by the manufacturer about the product.
